I voted for Biden and would again if the election were today,

but I'm not too confident at all in the validity of that statement.
 
not from the day it was passed. but, of course, later on, when "arms" of war became so lethal that only idiots might believe any citizens can own them. in reality, he was a little bit right. the second amendment said nothing about any private citizens right to bear arms, just those in a well-regulated militia. back then, guns were necessary to most Americans, for protection, hunting, etc. They would not try to ban them. cannons, not so much....if enough yahoos had bought cannons and killed a bunch of kids in schools, or a bunch of co-workers, then cannons would have been banned back then, too.

The two Saratoga Grasshoppers were quite famous and appeared on one side or the other's at many battles during the American revolution.

Well, certain guns and weapons have been restricted since their inception. Even certain types of bayonets had been banned after war. Normally the banned stuff was created solely for the military. Those type of things really aren't designed for civilians as you need special training. Hasn't stopped arms manufacturers from mimicking military weapons.

You could buy an M-1 Garand at the hardware store in the late 40's. A fucking semi-automatic 30-06. You haven't a clue how much damage one can do with one of those. No special training needed.
