It sure does look like Russia intends to annex portions of UKraine and then stand down, and then if the Ukrainians/West attack Russia all Hell will break loose, with the Russians having full Chinese support. Remember that it has long been China not Russia that is our enemy with enormous power to hurt us.

I’ll admit I thought Russia would roll over Ukraine. I’m happily pleased they didn’t. I think I’m in the majority of those who early on thought Russia would crush Ukraine. Even our fearless leader Slow Joe thought Ukraine was going to lose and he offered Zelenski a ride out of Ukraine . Zelenski famously replied I don’t need a ride I need weapons. Early on weapons were slow in coming until Ukraine shamed us with their resolve. We hey fought off the Russian tanks with the Javelins Trump provided early in the war. The Generals I have seen pretty much all had the same opinion that Russia would cruise to an easy win. So I think it’s dumb to crow about people that don’t bought Russia would win early on. Now I hope they hat we can continue to support Ukraine until this thing is resolved.

I was expecting that the Russians would eventually capture Kyiv and eventually suppress the combat effectiveness of Ukraine's field armies. But I didn't think it would be easy for them. Ukraine has a large, modern, well equipped army that can inflict serious pain. Military experts I was reading seemed to think the Ukranian armed forces were in the top 20 militaries in the world.

I always expected the Russians to face continuous military resistance, even if it took the form of insurgency
