I'm good with that for a draft situation.. The frontal lobe isn't fully developed until 21 or after. I think we need to get kids out of school and gone before they can buy guns. Get some of the immaturity out of them. If they go into the military voluntarily then they should still not be able to vote or buy guns until 21.

People hunt turkey with .223 all the time. Shows you don't have a clue what you are talking about. :laugh:

We often hunt turkey with our bows.

And yeah, some folks hunt turkey using a rifle, the shot is far more difficult but it is something that is done. It is only legal in 12 states and each has different rules, some only allow pellet rifles for instance. This makes it rare but not impossible.

A standard AR-15 is a perfect rifle to take a turkey with. And you can be the head of your local chapter of “.223’s for Tom’s”, with a few basic considerations if you live in one of those states above (we may have missed a couple, thanks to newer regulations passed during the past year of lockdown mayhem).

Turkeys are not an easy hunt. They are one of the most difficult of all animals to hunt because of their phenomenal eyesight and hearing, and their keen awareness of their own vulnerability to become a meal for man and animal alike!

They are often hunted from long distances that requires a scope and a High Powered 22 long shot!

I'm sure there are turkey blinds where you can use shotguns and Bow and arrow. But it is very difficult to just walk upon them out in nature up close for that.

However, there are some very gifted Turkey callers, that have been known to call them up close!

My point is that 223 is not the proper bullet for a Turkey shoot! Not unless all you want are the feathers!

And what makes say a Remington 222 so much better? I might agree if you tried to use say, a 22-06 (a .22 jacketed bullet using a 30-06 cartridge).

Even the twist rates of a 222 can have a tumbling effect after contact with it's target- making turkey burger out of the thing!

You guys use what you like for turkey hunting, but the 22 long is the weapon of choice for me. I just wish my 22 had a longer barrel!

My friends do use 222's because they often hunt deer and turkey on the same hunt sometimes. Some use over and under shotgun/222!

What brings the twist rate into the accuracy equation?

The twist stabilizes the bullet in flight. Excessive heavy or light loads and bullets cause tumbling. Recommendations to avoid tumbling are in the loading manual.

I don't hunt turkey. If I did, I'd probably use a .22
