Biden blocks 6 Billion…

No one can explain why Israel is our ally and Iran is an enemy. At best, arbitrary.

Because Israel has informal defense manufacturing and other defense related ties to the US while Iran is a theocracy that supports worldwide terrorism now that Saddam and Iraq no longer do and has nothing in particular we need to trade in.

Honestly? Iran hates us because we backed the Ayatollah and lost. But pretending that we "don't know" why they are an enemy when their entire government sometimes have chanting sessions where they chant "Death to America" (three years ago, video below).

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that America has a good idea why they think Iran doesn't like them.

As you know, I ignore posts with pictures and videos.

Then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo noted that the sanctions were “targeted at the regime, not the people of Iran, who have suffered grievously under this regime” and that the administration would “maintain many humanitarian exemptions to our sanctions including food, agriculture commodities, medicine, and medical devices.”

Yup. Hence my note that they had budgets for food and medicine that they then found to be fungible when they were promised access to billions.

You aren't helping yourself here.

Our list of abuses of Iran is long, just like with Russia we pushed them into the arms of the Chinese, who are building a New World Order where America will be the worlds premier shit-hole country for as far as the eyes can see as justice for our crimes.

Once upon a time Iranians wanted to be just like us.

Those days are long gone.

Except I am, if you are not a stupid person, so ya I am not helping myself with you.

This is on Trump, much more then Biden, if you are in to finger pointing.

The reality is true; Iran can spend the $6B on food and medicine thus saving them the money of spending other money on food and medicine so they can spend it on machetes and rockets for Hamas instead.

It's like giving someone money who has a "Need money for food" sign. They can get food. What they can't get is money for cigarettes and liquor. Better to give the money to a shelter to feed them.

In the case of Iran, give it to the Red Cross so they can go into the country and give it to people in need.

No, you are not. The only person who promised to give access to Iran to spend that money (on things they had budgeted already because they were allowed by the sanctions, Jarod) was Biden. You are the stupidest person on this thread bar none.

Money in an account that they had no access to and could not spend or... Money that Biden promises to let them spend... Let me see... Hmmm... Hard to figure out which one made them think they had some freed up budgeted money... if you are QP at least... nobody else is flummoxed here.

We agree.

The money was supposed to be paid to vendors who sold exactly what was promised, medical supplies and help for the people. They had to submit invoices that would get paid if the country in charge of the money saw it as legit. You keep hurting yourself.

We agree.

Sadly, the US is dealing with international law too. We can't be the standard bearer of supporting international law while violating it on a whim.

Still, best to find a legal way to stop the money going to Iran for their support of terrorism.

Again, earmarking money just frees up money that used to be earmarked for that.

Earlier I explained the fungibility of money, it's in this thread. Keep up. I can go through it again, but really... it's there for posterity.

Ah, heck... If I have $6 I am saving for ear medicine and fish food for my goldfish, then my mommy promises to give me $6 to pay for those things on Sunday. I then take my $6 and spend it today on a 1980s priced nickel bag and a McDouble, the only reason I thought i had money for weed and junk food was because mommy promised me $6 for medicine and fish food.

Now, that's how fungibility works and how "earmarking" promised money still allows them to spend on other things.

Are we up to pace now? Good.

Now, money in an account they cannot spend doesn't help them, but the money they were promised to get, that was even transferred to an escrow account and rules changed so the banks were sure the US would not punish them for doing this, that changes everything. Now they think they have money to buy Hamas nice gifts for Rash Hashana.

OMG are you ever painfully stupid.

You actually think that when Iran sees the $6B pot of money building up and they read the Trump and Pompeo position change below, they would never act, as they do not have a 'promise'.

How fucking baseline stupid are you actually, you brain dead simpleton.

As soon as IRan would have seen the policy shift, they would have started freeing up money, by your logic.

Republican Claims on Hamas Attack and Iran Funds Distort the Facts

...Contrary to claims by some Republicans, including former President Donald Trump, U.S. taxpayers did not indirectly fund the recent Hamas attack on Israel with Iranian money unfrozen as part of a prisoner swap with Iran in August.

The $6 billion freed up was Iranian money that was held in South Korean banks. It was released to banks in Qatar, and State Department officials say there will be oversight to ensure it can only be spent on humanitarian needs in Iran, such as food or medicine. Some have argued that money is fungible, so the release of the funds will free up Iran to fund terrorism. But none of the $6 billion has yet been spent.

What Is the Origin of the $6 Billion?
In 2018, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal — known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action — and several months later imposed sanctions that included a partial ban on Iranian oil exports and on banking. The following spring, the administration imposed a total ban on oil exports.

Around that time, South Korean banks held between $6.5 billion and $9 billion from the country’s purchases of Iranian energy products. The Trump administration authorized the release of those funds for humanitarian purposes, but the banks resisted doing so, because of a fear of violating the U.S. sanctions, according to the Washington Institute for Near East Policy...

This is yet another lesson in how the world cant trust anything America says, anything America promises....we are that shit.

We are going down, and the crash will be brutal.
