White folks aren't singled out; they just feel that way.

Working class white people with minimal education have had a chip on their shoulder,
mostly out of resentment over the deindustrialization of America, which is understandable,
but they've been voting directly against their own economic best interests as a reaction to it.

One consequence of being undereducated is that you're susceptible to believing any con.
The more sophisticated have noticed this pretty clearly, and despite having faults like everybody else, Biden is politically sophisticated..

I think Biden is trying to show them that they've been fucking up big time without actually setting them off by saying it.

Ahh, but here's the thing:

Just because you are identified (or identify) as "working class white" does NOT mean you are ignorant or "uneducated". One of the perks of our home grown manufacturing industry was upward mobility....you learn a skill, become proficient, learn more. Couple that with the G.I. bill (vets furthering their education) and you have a (working) middle class (Post WWII to about 1968).

Now as you said, deindustrialization has put a serious hurt on the aforementioned. But what you left out is OUTSOURCING our manufacturing industries. That in conjunction with computerization really put the kibosh on a part of Americana that was the hope and dream of my parents and grandparents. My generation really came into the beginning of the end for this.

I observe that this whole "white victim" mindset stems from what I call the "Ozzie & Harriet" syndrome. That's when TV reflected this life in America where non-white folk were essentially "in the background"...content, causing no strife, assimilating totally with the lifestyle of the protagonist white stars of the program...the "noble non-whites". Enter the late 1960's.....hippies, anti-War movement, Civil Rights movement, Watergate, etc.....and the promise of an "Leave it to Beaver" life was fast disappearing for the next generation.

That bred a LOT of resentment and dismay for the majority population of this country. A resentment born of an idealism that glossed over many things to be achieved.

So this "coded" message that the subject title states essentially exists only in the mindset I've just described. In reality...EVERYONE is affected.

Things are quite different around here especially on large government projects.

I did inspection for a time and was working a state project (building for a university here intown). Immigration showed up one day and it was like turning a light on and seeing the cockroaches scattering in all directions. It was shut down for a couple weeks trying to get the workers back.

Of course situations can vary locality by locality but i know its the same in Atlanta. My brother does inspection down there.
 
Passing out rewards to those who comply with the revolution turned out to be such a successful tactic because Americans are overwhelmingly morally adrift and cheap.

In AZ getting caught with just one illegal on your payroll, or working on false documents gets your contractor's license revoked, a state suit for tax evasion, your business license revoked, and a who heap of other shit falling on you. Most contractors avoid using illegals like the plague here because of state laws.

That did happen back in the 80's, but since then and a number of cases where the contractor was arrested and their business destroyed, they've pretty much stopped wholesale use of illegals.

Much of that is exacerbated by a black working class hip hop culture which wishes to avoid assimilation to retain an independent culture but at the same time resents being viewed as "the other."

In nations where multicultural/multiracial harmony exists, people are generally color-blind toward racial/ethnic diversity.

America has willfully, on both sides, not taken that approach. Our approach of recognizing and celebrating diversity has pretty much guaranteed that we'll never have racial harmony.

The word "American" will always describe only a nationality and never an ethnicity.


I certainly agree that the destruction of the urban industrial base has decimated upward mobility access to the detriment of the entire nation.

Whoa, hold the phone!

Let's get something straight, here; Black Americans ARE AMERICANS. WE DON'T HAVE TO "ASSIMILATE"... being here over a century BEFORE this became America took care of that. What you say about here has to deal with the subconscious/subliminal resentment by some (some say a lot) non-black Americans of black folk holding onto the right of recognition of a social contribution (music) and retaining ethnic culture that has been under attack since pre & post slavery.

"Hip-hop" & "rap" are NOT something I'm fond of...mainly because it was the dumbing down of something unique to black American and America ..... jazz, rhythm & blues, soul music. Anyone with a little practice can do it....which is why the international "best" DJ's are NOT black Americans, and jokers like "Eminem" and "The Beasty Boys" were/are rich. So it would seem that the "assimilation" you speak of is more akin to "appropriation". Until these things are publicly acknowledged and discussed, we will always have problems.

Oh, and it's absurd to think of Americans as an ethnicity....the very history of the country should prevent that error. It will take GENERATIONS of marriage between "races", ethnicities and creeds to obtain that....something neither you or I will live to see, sadly.

My only point is that if we establish equal status under the law, that's all that we have to do in term of promoting racial harmony.
After that, it either happens or it doesn't. If the various ethnicities willfully choose to not get along, no amount of social engineering will make it happen.

But we must have equal status under the law. That's the only part that can be forced, and that's only possible by choosing color blindness over a codified celebration of diversity.
What we celebrate unofficially is our own business.
