That debate shouldn’t even have been close.

Trump definitely has his faults and one of them is he can’t stay out of his own way at times. The bit about the Proud Boys was an unforced error. The proper answer is: “yes, I condemn white supremacy in the strongest possible terms”.

Then, drop it.

But he let it get into an exchange with his two debate opponents and that almost always spells trouble on this particular topic. He made the same mistake in Charlottesville. Just make a short concise statement *that cannot be misinterpreted* because the media will pounce on anything that can be construed to fit their narrative.

This is where not being a professional politician hurts him. Notice Biden made a short concise statement about leftist violence. We all know he’s not going to do a damned thing about it—but he left no opening.

And I’m sure Trump has heard this from other people. But Trumps other weakness is he’s bullheaded. Though that is often a strength in his case.

It was a great debate. Nothing like a good political rock em sock em smackdown. But I get it. For all the fragile souls out there, raising your hand like a grade schooler to speak is a much better venue right? :rolleyes:
