Fidel started an educational system and the literacy rate skyrocketed. He started universal healthcare and produced a huge amount of doctors. It is a fact that people we better off.
Of course we attacked them at the Bay Of Pigs. When that failed we installed an embargo to see if we could make Fidel fall. The people were not going back to an American chosen dictator, so they suffered. 70 years later, they are still suffering. We could have done much better.
Fidel was a communist but open to relations with America. We shut them down and Russia offered to help. We made this mess.

Ask the Philippines after the US replaced Spain whose eggs were breaking and why. The US isn't an Empire? Do you ever wonder why Hawaii is a state? Why Cuba hates us? The US overthrows governments.
