Being pro development is now considered alt-right

So first off you just said deregulation never works and only hurts the people and now you are saying it's ok to deregulate the housing market so people have a place to live. So which is it?

I am not sure if I should thank you for answering, since you practiced a level of dishonesty I usually only see from the more wingnutty of the rightwing message board contingent.

Liberals as a group do not get a pass from me for abusing their white privilege. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the rightwing on message board has never once acknowledged this nation has any sort of race based socio-economic injustice. And I appreciate that you are the only righty that even touches upon the periphery of the topic.

What I can tell you is that in my entire life, I have never met a single righty, conservative, or wingnut on any city council, local activist group, or NGO that made it their mission to promote and defend policies to expand affordable housing opportunities.

It was always liberals, progressive, and leftys doing that work.

My answer that you bolded is exactly what the people you are supporting here are calling for. So either you are confused on what's being discussed or just don't understand it. "Affordable housing" is subsidized housing. For those who want no market rate housing and only "affordable housing" well that money has to come from somewhere. So it is the gov't that has to finance and run (or give to a non-profit to run) that housing. That is still essentially gov't run housing.

Housing markets aren't white privilege. Markets don't discriminate here. Either you can afford housing or you can't. One doesn't need a PhD in economics to understand that if there is more demand for housing than there is supply prices are going to go up. Yet the groups you support here don't want new housing to be built. But they do want all kinds of rules and regulations that make building new housing very expensive which is why new housing often costs so much.

If people who you and Desh are supporting don't want new market rate housing then this will be the result. As I've stated here before I own my condo in SF. It has doubled in value in ten years. I am a beneficiary of these anti-development policies. I don't think that's who you have in mind.

SFBARF goes for progressives’ political jugular

Far from being an “astroturf” group, Trauss said, SFBARF’s goals are simply aligned with those who have money.
“We’re not fighting The City,” she said. “The City is with us. Minions of affordable housing, service providers, they’re used to holding up [development] projects to extract concessions for the developers.”
Even Peskin is nuanced when it comes to housing. He’s opposed some projects but also backed the Eastern Neighborhoods Plan, which transformed South of Market into a density lover’s paradise.
Still, for all the political Molotov cocktails Trauss has thrown, she’s eager to listen, and engages in respectful dialogue. So I was frank: Does SFBARF’s voice drown out the voices of activist groups, because SFBARF is aligned with monied interests?
Trauss responds with another question. “Have you read ‘The Prince?’” referring to the 16th-century political treatise by Niccolo Machiavelli.
“He said that what you want is equal and strong kind of lords,” Trauss said. Public factions advance their interests, she explained, by allying with wealthy classes who in turn advance their own interests.
Following her train of thought, SFBARF has simply allied itself with the wealthiest interests in the room. And as long as they do, SFBARF’S voice will be elevated.
