Beijing 'seriously concerned' after Trump questions 'one China' policy

I read what he said & have watched what he's been doing. It's irresponsible & reckless.

Like everything w/ Trump, he's shooting from the hip. I have no doubt at all that it's appealing to his mindless "go Trump!" supporters, but he doesn't have a master plan here. He's just poking the bear to see what happens.

It's all fun & games until the world economy crashes.

No master plan.....huh ?.....How do you get this 'insider' information ?

He's trying to at least put Taiwan into play, and the Chinese won't tolerate it.
So Trump backs down either for concessions or for Beijing to save face. win/win either way.

The professional diplomats are in dithers as their cocktail partys are threatened.

That's such a naive, simplistic assessment of what international diplomacy entails.

US spending money we don't have is sad state of affairs......it makes me wonder how close to bankruptcy we really are....

China holds a big chunk of our national debt, but not as much as is held by US-based investors or Japan or even England.
It's much more in their interest to keep our economy strong so that they can realize a return on their investment.

Our relationship with China is one of those 'it's complicated' deals lol.

Again: are we the ones lending them trillions?

Trump supporters are so clueless.

Ok Mr. High-Information voter...what's going on with the steel market in China right now, and why?

I know this sounds obscure but it really does matter. You really should find your own sources on this and read. China is in no position to dictate anything to anyone. Picture the dot com bust X100, that's what they've got hanging over their head right now.

I really doubt that.

One China is a foundational element that has been in existence for a long time.

It's a really bad bet to think that it is something that China will see as needing to be purchased from each successive US president.

Since 1943....that is a long time......

That makes it even WORSE for us.

Bottom line is that we have put ourselves in this position by relying on China so much. Everyone wants Trump to "stick it" to China, but they haven't done anything to us, except lend us a ton of money.

It doesn't make it worse for us at all. Basically, China is a little bitch and they made themselves that way and it's too late for them because western foreigners own most of that debt.

He is not the president....he isn't challenging anyone..............yet. He holds no office in the government at all...........yet....Hes not even officially President-elect until the EC makes it official.....

I think showing his independence is refreshing....

That's being naïve to think his actions today don't matter. Of course they do. I haven't said whether what he's doing is positive or negative I'm just saying he clearly has challenged China's one rule policy. Do you have an opinion one way or the other whether that's a good move?

Trump knows more about China's economic situation than Thing or the NYT editorial board lol. He's dealt with them in the real world. No doubt he's talked to people over there; not as a diplomat, but as a business man.

I don't pretend to know what he's after, but I'll be surprised if he just woke up one morning and decided to rattle their cage.

Trump is sure stepping on a lot of dicks, China and the Intelligence Community to name a few?!!

What exactly has the leftist example of "appeasement" gotten the United States? I hope he scares the crap out of China, N. Korea, Cuba, Iran, Europe....and California. What's the use of having the biggest baddest attack dog on the block (the US MILITARY) if its been muzzled by idiot politicians? Let the beast loose to walk up and down the fence line, snarling, drooling and barking at every mail man that passes by.

Exactly. They're not a superpower, they're not even close to being a superpower and Trump is treating them the way they should be treated, a third rate nation.

As Trump showed throughout the campaign many of his 'shoot from the hip' comments were planned well in advance. What he's doing may not turn out well but thinking he's doing everything without a plan is completely missing what he's doing.

They have the second largest economy in the world and will have more even more power in Asia after we pull out of TPP so they aren't the third world China of our youth.
