Between Olympia and Seattle at least there former motels which were turned into vagrant warehouses have been burned down by said vagrants...and that's just one problem.

Wrong question - the question is - who knows more about the opportunity cost of vacant inventory than you. If room 100 by the ice machine isn't rented and someone wants it better to make $ than to leave it vacant.

It's a matter of liability. The prostitutes and johns are engaged in illegal activities. The city is forcing this upon hotels. If a regular guest's child ends up with multiple bed bug bites which become infected and almost kill her, who gets sued? Who would the john sue if it was him...in the commission of a crime? Well, it's California, so who knows? LOL
