No, I'm afraid it's not in the Constitution that my speech has to be non-offensive to you or anyone, for that matter. My speech can't be detrimental to the health, safety, and well-being of others, or somehow infringe on a fundamental right, but not being offended is not a fundamental right.

It wasn't in the "80's that the word came to describe homosexuals...I told you that it was in the 20's. Yeah, I know you "told me" and you are WRONG. Mainstream America didn't start referring to homosexuals as "gay" until the late 1970s or early 1980s. I can point to Frank Sinatra songs from the 60s, which use the word "gay" to mean happy and festive, not homosexual. I seriously doubt if "gay" were commonly used to describe homos, Sinatra would have used another word...like festive or happy!

So far, the 'count' on offensive names being called is well in your favor here. Proving that it is pointless to hold the point of view, words can be banned on the basis of what any given individual might find offensive. We would certainly have to ban you for being overtly offensive, while I don't see anything I have said to attack or offend you personally, I was quite polite and called you "a wise person" when I re-posted your quote; "One would hope that an appeal to one's sense of decency and civility would dictate that folks would edit themselves not to be offensive."

Precisely. Liberals happen to care about the historical integrity in books, unlike the Texas Legislature, which authorized new school textbooks which had a revisionist version of historical events, slanted to a right wing ideology. The horror! The gall!
