The thing is, romney had record gains among almost every demographic of white people. Staggering gains.

If the republican party is going to die, it is still going to try and hold out as long as possible. For republicans, they probably DO have a better chance at increasing the white vote be 2-3% than increasing the african american vote by 5-6%.

Politics are going to become more radicalized as a result of 2012, not less.

As politics become more and more radicalized we may in fact have a future where 70-80% of white people vote republican. That's the way the trend is going.

70-80% of white people will never vote for republicans. That's a pipe dream.

now all the Dems have to do is keep running blacks for president......I hope they have enough clean, articulate, well dressed ones......
 
I don't care what color they are or how old or young they are, this country needs INTELLIGENT voters.(like myself, of course!:))
 
the fact of the matter remains that the GOP's strengths are the demographic groups who are declining in percentage while the democrats are strong and getting stronger in those groups that are increasing. And beyond ethnicity, there is gender. The democrats are stronger with women than the GOP is. White men do not make up enough of the middle of the bell curve to guarantee long term GOP success. If they don't figure out a way to broaden their base and their appeal, they can read the handwriting on the wall... yet, when, confronted with that, they seem all that more determined to stand on platforms and policy ideas and candidates that are further and further to the right. It's like they have a death wish... which is fine with me. ;)

After 5 years of high unemployment under Obama, especially in the young adult category, lets see how long the Dems can hold on to the youth vote. Obviously if the Reps dump the radical right rhetoric that would be a help as most in the young adult category are socially moderate to liberal.

Now its a net negative and their investment is no longer paying off.
