Only good Boomer is a dead Boomer. For the rest of human history they shall be remembered as the worst generation.
Make sure you keep working, I want my social security checks to keep coming!

Love this tweet about the Boomers. Not sure what she means about the environment but the rest is definitely true. (Of course there are many reasons for this but it's still fun to kick the Boomers)
Kim-Mai Cutler
They were born into a world with practically free higher ed, inexpensive housing, and pensions and are leaving behind a wall of crushing private and public debt, environmental degradation and a shattered state that had once enabled their upward mobility.
But that is what you and almost every other conservative spent a lifetime supporting: the abolition of free higher ed, destruction of pensions, and supporting the Bush and Reagan tax cuts which resulted in ginormous deficits.
I would think you might have wanted to title your thread, in the legendary words of George Dumbya Bush: "Mission Accomplished".
All the veteran suicides a day and you arent one of them. Truly, the world is fucked.

My Aunt's in her late 60's and is awesome. She's progressive politically but we get along great (not sure why people with different political opinions shouldn't be able to get along but clearly in some families that's not the case). I spent some time with her this summer and she said the exact same thing, "us boomers fvcked it up".
I mean we all know there is good and bad in every generation but it's interesting she used almost your same words.
I go to class with children the ages of my g-kids. Today we had to get out our laptops and download some language programs. The boy in front of me hadn't brought his so he came back to sit by me. We're also FB friends. He's progressive as well. At one point while we were waiting for a proggie to d/l we were talking about the latest Trump bullshit, the assaults on the envt. and so on. I told him that I'm so sorry that even though my gen created the civil rights laws, the EPA, women's lib, etc. -- we pretty much fucked it up for your generation. He said his mom says that too, then actually hugged me and said "we'll work it out."
Gawds love our kids/g-kids, eh?
The author is a progressive so there's that. Entitlements are the crushing debt but it has been made quite clear Boomers don't want it touched (I know you know the difference between deficit and debt). Pensions did change because the world change. You can blame your fellow progressives for the advancements in technology that made the world flatter and the economy global. (you can thank the greatest generation for wiping out Hitler and Japan allowing the U.S. to boom economically while much of Europe and Japan sat in ruins.)
it wasn't the boomers that fucked us over......it was Jimmy Carter and his inflation.......wacho doesn't quite understand that everything in relative, including the cost of living in each generation....
but after the greatest generation saved not only this country and practically the entire world from slavery by the axis powers, they rewarded themselves and their offspring
to some degree and they, what was left of them, and their children created the greatest, richest country in world...in reality, you morons of today are the ones reaping the benefits and riches
they created.....
true....today we give them student loans and let them skip payments......if you don't want to pay $25k for tuition go to a community college....or better yet, get the fuck out of California completely......come visit the real world......For example, UC schools cost $25K for in state tuition. No part job is going to pay that for today's students. My father told me the story of losing his tennis scholarship his senior year and being so afraid to tell his parents he took three part time jobs in school and paid his entire tuition himself. No one could do that today.
No part time job today will pay enough to cover today's costs even if someone was willing to do it
You can put the blame squarely where it belongs - deregulation, massive deficits, the end of highly subsidized higher education, and concerted efforts to push workers out of pensions and into crappy 401ks rest on the shoulders on conservative, neo-liberal, and libertarian-inspired policy, Reaganomics, and the insidious hand of corporate profiteers on the levers of our government.
As a white dude, I also have to check myself when we tend to get misty-eyed and nostalgic about the glory days of the 1950s and 60s. Sure, it was glory days for white males.
Was it really for people of color, gay people, women - especially black women, and other minorities and disadvantage communities? In some ways and to some of those people, 1958 might seem like a hell hole compared to 2017. Just a guess though, I can't speak for minorities, or for anyone but myself.
I went through law school paying my tuition with money I earned as a welder in the summers and holidays and driving school bus during the school year....

I'll write it slower. The big cities where the jobs are were in reach for almost all baby boomers when they were coming up, including buying a home in those cities. That is not the case today. A lot of young people can't afford to move to NY, SF or Seattle today and rent, let alone buy a place.

sorry dude, there are jobs all over the country......nobody needs to live in San Francisco.......quite frankly they would be idiots to try.......

graduated in 1977.....what years was this?
