Babies hospitalized over formula shortage

Our leaders and experts made zero effort to either fix the problem they cause, or warn us about it.

Of course the Mind Molders never warned us either.

You can find it in less than 10 seconds. You just hate being proved wrong.....again. You should used to that by now.

You can’t/won’t prove anything cuz you got nuthin, same ole game you play.

Two children in Memphis have been hospitalized after needing IV fluids and nutritional support due to the baby formula shortage.

The preschooler and toddler, both from different families, were rushed to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after their parents failed to secure formula as shelves across America go bare.

Biden invoked the Defense Production Act to handle this problem. Did you give him kudos for that.</rhetorical>

"President Biden announced Wednesday that he will invoke the Defense Production Act to address the baby formula shortage, meaning suppliers will be required to give resources to infant formula plants before sending them to other customers."

guess that's why his job approval is soaring....cock sucking slut

Damn trump's deregulations.

"Finally, the third factor: America’s regulatory and trade policy. And while that might not sound as interesting to most people as bacteria and viruses, it might be the most important part of the story. FDA regulation of formula is so stringent that most of the stuff that comes out of Europe is illegal to buy here due to technicalities like labeling requirements. Nevertheless, one study found that many European formulas meet the FDA nutritional guidelines—and, in some ways, might even be better than American formula, because the European Union bans certain sugars, such as corn syrup, and requires formulas to have a higher share of lactose.

Some parents who don’t care about the FDA’s imprimatur try to circumvent regulations by ordering formula from Europe through third-party vendors. But U.S. customs agents have been known to seize shipments at the border.
U.S. policy also restricts the importation of formula that does meet FDA requirements. At high volumes, the tax on formula imports can exceed 17 percent. And under President Donald Trump, the U.S. entered into a new North American trade agreement that actively discourages formula imports from our largest trading partner, Canada.

The Biden administration is focused on expanding domestic manufacturing of formula to meet families’ needs. But the bigger problem is our trade policy. “The U.S. is a captive market for domestic dairy producers like Abbott, and during times of crisis, the lack of alternative supplies becomes a pretty big problem,” Scott Lincicome, the director of general economics and trade for the Cato Institute, a libertarian think tank, told me."

Give him thanks for wasting more of our resources to bail him out of just another one of his fuck ups? I think not.

Are you a little confused today? You just posted this:

That goes completely against what Jarod said. Do you democrats even know what day it is?

As usual you're trying to apply the same comment to two different issues.

Do I think the government should be in charge of baby formula production? No.

Do I think the government should be in charge of using its resources to handle a problem with serious consequences for helpless infants? Yes.

Yes but attacking babies belies an incredible evil.

I don't understand how anyone can continue to support this loopy administration.

I dont understand how they think they will get away with callous disregard for the well being of the American people as they pursue their religion.

I suspect that it boils down to "Yes Sunshine, they really are that ignorant....and that Evil".

Because Women and Infant Children WIC is a federal program.

Okay? Abbott isn't a federally-run corporation, though. I believe that it's not good for anyone, let alone WIC, to put all their eggs in one basket, so to speak.

"Furthermore, the government has not only granted an oligopoly to three companies, but has also burdened the entire industry with a myriad of gratuitous, often inscrutable regulations, and has effectively forbidden the importation of formula from abroad. A shortage was only a matter of time."
