The flu didn't develop after he died. It was the cause.
 
Saw on ABC This morning that he was deeply in debt according to his family back in Guatemala. He also refused medical treatment for his child until it was too late.

Looks like he was hoping for this outcome to get a BIG PAY-OFF
 
The father of the 8-year-old illegal immigrant who died on Dec. 25 took the boy with him on the dangerous trek from Guatemala to the United States because he heard that it would help him enter the country.

“We heard rumors that they could pass. They said they could pass with the children,” Catarina Gomez Lucas, the dead boy’s 21-year-old stepsister, told the Associated Press.

So Agustin Gomez grabbed his son Felipe and set out, despite the numerous dangers in such a journey for anyone, much less a child.

The description of the family’s reasons for leaving Guatemala to try to enter the United States was one of escaping poverty, which is not a recognized reason for granting asylum in the country. The family did not describe persecution or any of the other scenarios that could lead to a legitimate claim of asylum.

Felipe “always wanted a bicycle,” Lucas said, and the family thought he would be better off in the United States. She said that Gomez was deep in debt and took out a loan to travel to America.

Catarina Alonzo, Gomez’s wife, confirmed that the reason Gomez took his son was to have an easier entry into the United States.

“Lots of them have gone with children and managed to cross, even if they’re held for a month or two. But they always manage to get across easily,” she told Reuters.

Neither the Associated Press nor Reuters noted that the family would not qualify for asylum, a key omission in many news stories about the migrants trying to enter the United States.

The number of migrants claiming asylum has skyrocketed in recent years, leading to a backlog of more than 800,000 cases. Most of the claims don’t hold up in the end.

Why are illegal aliens like this boy given a pass on this IMMIGRATION law ???

American children die from the flu every year why was this diseased illegal alien boy allowed to enter our borders carrying a deadly disease ???
 
I notice the article is fairly fact free. How many days was the kid in custody? Also if he was in custody he was not allowed to enter the country.

He was caught inside the country.

An 8-year-old boy has died in the hospital after he and his father illegally crossed the border into the United States.

In a similar case, a 7-year-old girl died after traveling through Mexico and crossing the border illegally with her father. Jakelin Caal Maquin and her father, Nery Caal, were apprehended by Border Patrol agents in the New Mexico desert on Dec. 6, as part of a larger group of 163 illegal aliens.

Caal signed a government form saying his daughter was healthy during initial screening. The group was cared for at a facility at a nearby port of entry, Antelope Wells, that included access to restrooms, food, and water.

Hours later, the pair were transported by bus to the nearest Border Patrol Station in Lordsburg—which is approximately 90 minutes away.

Before departing, Caal told agents his daughter was feeling sick and had begun vomiting. And according to him, his daughter had not been able to consume food and water for days.

After arriving at the border patrol station, Caal told agents that his daughter had stopped breathing. She was twice revived by Border Patrol emergency medical technicians or EMTs and airlifted to a Texas hospital. While in the hospital, the girl was revived after going into cardiac arrest but she died less than 24 hours later. The hospital said the girl likely died from septic shock.

The Department of Homeland Security said the loss of life shows the danger of entering the United States outside ports of entries, adding, “We are begging parents not to put themselves or their children at risk attempting to enter illegally.”

Similarly, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan stressed the dangers posed by traveling long distances, on crowded transportation, or in the natural elements in a statement on Dec. 14.

“No one should risk injury, or even death, by crossing our border unlawfully. This is why I asked Congress on Tuesday to change our laws so that the United States is not incentivizing families to take this dangerous path,” McAleenan said.

“Border Patrol agents save thousands of people every year who are overcome by the elements, including people found suffering from dehydration, heat stroke, hypothermia, drowning in the river, injuries, and left for dead by these smugglers in some of the most remote areas of our border as they enter the country illegally. Our agents have world-class rescue and medical training, and are committed to saving those put in distress by callous smugglers.”

Not surprising but by the time it got to the point he was dying, someone should have seen that a common cold diagnosis was wrong unless he had some special health issues. We did have a local autistic kid die from the flu a couple years ago in less than a day. He came home from school not feeling well on Friday afternoon with no clear symptoms other than his complaint and was dead early saturday morning.
