Australia is banning social media for kids under 16.

I don’t disagree with this. At the same time I look at what are the potential unintended consequences.

This will block some but not all kids, so parents can’t get a false sense of security.

When the Instagram, Facebook etc apps get blocked kids will find more fringe apps to go to.

You’ll hear some expression privacy concerns over these firms collecting more data on young people.

On the surface, I totally agree with not letting kids have access to these sites until they are 16. It’s the execution where the concern lies.
