While prosecuting two known members of the KKK for the brutal murder of a 19-year-old black man in the early '80s, Sessions — who was a U.S. Attorney at the time — reportedly“insisted on the death penalty,” though the maximum sentence for the crime was life in prison.

Sessions was successful in that bid, and Henry Francis Hays was put to death in 1997. The KKK was also ordered to pay $7 million as a result of the trial, a verdict that was responsible for “financially destroying the United Klans of America in 1987.”

It's not the only way Sessions's reputation as a “racist” is being rebuked, as Politico reports:

"...[Sessions] filed several desegregation lawsuits while he was U.S. attorney for the Southern district of Alabama and voted in favor of the extension of the Voting Rights Act in 2006.

Miller also pointed to Sessions’ vote to confirm President Barack Obama’s nomination in 2009 of the first African-American attorney general, Eric Holder."

I don't know how the charge against Sessions could be more thoroughly rebuked. But will that stop the left from accusing conservatives of racism in the future?

Here's the thing though. They're not going to get away with it as easily as they used to. Conservatives should be less apt to cower in front of it.

The dems are hoping for some GOP senators to break ranks to block some of these picks. They are not going to do it against one of their colleagues.

They did in the 80's. But this is the most racist Republican party in all of history. Even back in the 1860s they were less racist than they are now. Him being a racist is probably a point in his favor, in their view.

he was not a senator in the 1980's. Think about this. Lets say Graham breaks ranks and blocks Sessions. Where does Sessions go? Right back to the senate. Any possibility he will vote against any and all things graham needs?

Your the party that says you need a slave class in the economy paid at less wages and with no protections from employers to keep everything running. We are trying to emancipate them and return them home.

It would be like if we tried to return all slaves to their point of origin during the beggining of slavery in the US.
