While it is true both sides are to blame for increasingly harsh rhetoric, I would caution that casting all the blame on the Left is simultaneously absurd in the extreme but also the core of the problem.

Then advocate for better ideas. We have a marketplace of ideas, as the founders envisioned. Win over voters with better ones, and the country might go in the direction you want it to.

Don't defend the idea of violence, or "the beast" as you call it. You're making excuses for people who no longer want to try to debate, or win over people with persuasion and a better vision.

It's too easy on this forum to go to really dark places in one's own soul. I find myself getting easily pissed off and saying really nasty things...totally unlike what I would do IRL.

I think this anonymous format opens the door to too many dark places within ourselves. And it really helps push that hatred that is splitting this country up now.

I get really nasty with them


I never threaten anyone

I never tell them to kill themselves


But there are elements here who need to be excoriated in the biggest way possible


When a society has members who insist on promoting lies over truth



It is incumbent on that society to publicly shame those elements until they abandon those lies or shut the fuck up



Otherwise that society will die
