Athiests Obviously Believe in SOMETHING!

There's plenty of evidence to support my Faith, Dick. You militant atheists simply raise the bar continuously to deny that the overwhelming evidence that I and others provide you proves His existence. The only reasonable explanation of that behavior is that you yourself have "faith" in the totally unreasonable assertion that the world around you was created by pure happenstance. :)

there is no evidence of god. save for your delusions.

How can you reject faith and belief in the supernatural but still believe in most of what the bible teaches?

What is left? the tribalism?

Based on this question, I seriously doubt you have done much reading of the bible, except in the way Dixie indicated. You read it to find reasons to hate. But don't feel bad, because that is exactly what most so called Christians do.

What is left, are the morality tales about loving your family, neighbor and yourself. Being ready to forgive the failings of others and understanding their shortcomings, while also being willing to help them improve.

Some of the morality tales have to be judged by considering the primitive minds the teachers were dealing with. The Invention of Lying, which I finally watched a couple weeks ago covers this beautifully. Also, the teachers may have actually believed that their compassion was supernatural and they were not that far ahead of the idiots they were trying to teach.

But do we really need these fairy tales anymore? Reason and logic have replaced the need to base morality in blind faith to some super natural being.

Some continue to argue against the principles (e.g., those who attack natural rights with silly questions about why it's not okay to kill and steal... WATER) but they know and accept that it is wrong to steal and kill.

You see, one scientifically proven aspect of human behavior, is our profound connection to spirituality. It is our definitive unique quality which makes us humans, and different from our 96% DNA cousin, the chimpanzee.

pornography is unique to humans. so are ipods. There are thousands of things that make us unique compared to animals. why pick spirituality out of all the possibilities?

You also have zero evidence that we owe our civilized existence to spirituality. We've been over this. Provide evidence that it is spirituality that has lead to human development

religion will always be around as a tool for some, because those who really use the religion the most cannot subject their principles to the light of reason, because THEY are they source of the hate, and the evil. The mindless killing in the name of god will always be an attractive manipulation for the warmongers and statist totalitarians.

Natural rights? How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

We only get the rights we secure for ourselves.

There is no fate.

God is a lie.

There is no proof that withstands scrutiny.

The bar has not been raised. It is simply true that some people continue to gather new information and knowledge, which when synthesized into the whole makes your faith look more and more ridiculous. Your religion teaches you to attack the new information and knowledge as being the product of supernatural evil (i.e., the Devil).

I can still remember regularly being told that dinosaur bones were planted by the devil to confuse us. Some nutjobs still believe that. Everyone sort of laughs at that now and even the religious shy away from such absurdity, but it use to be widley held dogma.

You said you believe in morality in this very thread. Natural rights are just moral concepts.

I think, religion will cease to be of much importance. Once the tipping point is reached its decline will become rapid and we are getting close to it. It's probably been reached in other parts of the world.

It's possible some religious nutjob will try to halt and destroy progress, but I don't see much reason to fear some coming Armageddon. If you want to live your fearing the coming apocalypse, go right ahead. But your faith and fear of it is contributing to your own delusion.

My religion, Catholicism, doesn't teach that, Dick.

Im an atheist. The new world order is a real goal of the banker elite. All of us microchipped, salaries fixed, economy planned for us by fascists. Various CFR white papers and globalist think tank societies all agree on globalization, fiat currency, and global governance, along with population control and eugenics. The conspiracies are not based on religion but fact, the stated intentions of the world self selected elite, the statists and the bankers who fund and control them. Religion is a tool of theirs, but you only need to read the news to see the coming global totalitarianism.

one of the difinitieve unique qualities of educated people is belief in science not comic books like the bible. Though I'd go spider man if I wanted to believe in supernatural. Or the Hulk.

Evidence?

Isn't it amazing how often you see them post their 'proof' of God? They spend inordinate amounts of their personal time and life, researching scriptures, developing their convoluted justifications for announcing the belief and faith in God. It's a very revealing psychological phenomenon, they are living in abject denial. Because of the denial, they feel compelled to defend themselves, speak out on their views, have you agree with them to feed their codependent behavior. This social reassurance they glean from the masses, is very important to the Christian, it enables them to cope with the uncertainty of life...

Isn't it interesting, I can use your paragraph to come to another conclusion.

Dixie.

I denounce god completely. He's just an irrational concept. When pushed, deists or whatever the fuck always then like to say that god is everything, or god is energy, but those are already concepts known respectively as "everything", and "energy".

god is the concept of centralized power and omnipotence. God is triumph over the individual, which is why totalitarians from all "sides" of the spectrum love religion and the power of hypocrisy and control it provides.

I do believe in morality though:

Morality is a set of behaviors and attitudes which facilitate voluntary, cooperative, and mutually beneficial relationships between individuals.
It is ridiculous to try to equate morality with people who believe in God, they don't corner the market on the virtue, not all who believe in God are moral and not all who are atheist are hedonistic. Generalizations are lazy.

The atheists that I know in my personal life do indeed believe in something.

The believe in the human spirit, the human intellect, and the human capacity for invention.
Believe in the present and live for now, find an awe in life.

To name god is not God. It is too vast for my mind, so I let the mystery be...

And as we can observe, the Atheist Denialists are out in full force! Spreading their OWN "Gospel" of truth, hoping to glean support from their fellow Atheists, because this is vitally important in facilitating their denial.

Most of us know there is no Santa Claus or Easter Bunny, we understand these are fictional characters created by man, and not real entities. However, if someone posted a thread extolling the wonderfulness of Santa and Peter Rabbit, I doubt you'd have very much legitimate response. You may have a few who weighed in to say how goofy they thought you were, but read these responses, they go way beyond that. Almost to a fault, the Atheists post elaborate explanations of what they believe (or don't believe), they even do as Apple and cite actual Scriptures! Why do you think they feel so compelled to respond with these obviously well thought out arguments and responses? Would you (or anyone) go to this much trouble to express your vitriol and hate for the Easter Bunny? There is really no logical reason to viciously attack something that you do not believe in, other than to cope with denial.
