At the end of Regan's first year....

So you all can blame Bush or Reagan or any other Republican FOR EVERTYING that is wrong today, (I guess the Democrats have had NO HAND IN ANY OF IT) but no one is suppose to blame the Messiah for ANYTHING.

his falling poll numbers aren't his fault, his trillion dollar spending spree isn't his fault, his shoving Communist health care on the American people against THEIR wishes isn't his fault..

I dont see the correlation.

President Obama may have a great economy in a year or two... Cons are juding him merely on the state of the current economy and merely saying, see the economy is bad... Obama is president.... Therefore its Obama's fault.

So my question is... in Reagans first term... the Economy was bad... Reagan was president... Was it his fault?
They look at his promises. When unemployment was at 7% Obama insisted that if we passed his stimulus we'd top out at 8%, then threatened that if we didn't it would be over 10%. They passed the stimulus bill, unemployment still reached 10%. What they use is the man's own measure of what success would be according to what he promised, they find that according to the measure the man put forward himself it failed.

You can blame things on President Obama, but the current economy is a silly thing to blame on him.

I dont care about his poll numbers (Bush, one of the worse presidents of all time once had an almost 90% approval rating). The deficate spending in a time of recession is generrally agreed upon as the thing to do. The majority want healthcare reform and what is about to pass is not Communist, you sould study Communism.

Instead of recognizing failure, we get the standard response we could have heard from Bush. We must do more of the same thing!

Imagine how bad unemployment would have been had the stimulus had not passed...!

Sure he was wrong about how bad unemployment was going to be.... People make mistakes, President Obama makes mistakes....

I am happy unemployment reached 10% instead of 20%!

the MAJORITY want a common sense health care REFROM, not this HOSTILE takeover of our health care system by the COMMIES in this administration..

and now all of a sudden you all don't CARE about polls, but boy did we hear enough and still do about Bush's poll numbers...you all are a laugh riot..

I think it would have been in the same place, and that the February drop wouldn't have happened without his fear mongering. We've been running in place and throwing money at a problem that will resolve itself. Now, I think it would have been less had he given a tax credit for actually hiring people to work.

I am dissatisfied and certain we could have done better with the right policies.

Anyway, it is the reason people "blame" Obama. He promised something, didn't deliver, and has tried to pass the buck for his failure.

Obama's stimulus did next to nothing by his own economist pre stimulus estimates.
So, let's flush an extra trillion down the toilet to not get the original result. Got it

and you should study what a goosestepping sheeple is, that care more about a PARTY than they do about others and what is best for their country..

I'll take stock market gains from dems or republicans. Ya'll know I'm a greedy bastard before a partisan. But, how the fuck can you hamer Bush like a red headed step child on spending and the economy was certainly suffering during his last year of spending then majically when Ostoolious gets in 10x the spending on riff raff is suddenly good for the economy. Rubbish, and the neocons are smart enough to replay those tapes in the midterms.

we're not judging him on the "state" of the economy....we're judging him on the tactic of spending a thousand times what we have on absolutely nothing in a failed effort to bring us OUT OF our state.....what he is doing is nailing the lid on the coffin.....

The deficate spending in a time of recession is generrally agreed upon as the thing to do.

????....bullshit....nobody except brainless liberals think it's the right thing to do.....how is spending millions on puppet museums supposed to bring us out of a recession?......

The point is that many Cons are trying to blame President Obama for the current state of the economy.... That is a silly thing to do, and hypocritical unless they admit Reagan was equally as bad!

And I'm sure no Democrats were blaming Reagan for the state of the economy after his first year right?

how has the stimulus done anything for employment?

i love the argument by the left or believers in the stimulus:

imagine

what would have happened....i imagine we would be better off

It is easy to Monday morning quarterback.... Damo, what are your opinions about what is comming next? What will happen with the Economy based on what President Obama has done?

That is why his overall poll numbers were about where Obama's are today.

His thread is lame.

Jarod if you want a good thread take a minute and come up with what both Reagan and Obama faced coming into office. Then list out the steps (legislation) that both passed in the first year to deal with what they were facing. Then we can attempt to look at the results and make judgements. Obviously we can only compare so much as Obama has only been in office for one year.

But this idea both terms are analogous and thus one is a hypocrite if you don't either support both or blame both is pretty poor.

Projection is an interesting concept in Psychology, study it then figure out how we got into a war in Iraq!

When Obama comes up for re-election in 2012, voters are going to judge him based on their own situation, barring some unforeseen foreign policy crisis or something along those lines. It's going to be a wallet election.

They're not going to think about "where were we in 2009," or missed or made targets along the way, or what people were saying about Obama today.
