At Least 1 Dead in Shooting at Texas Church

The police have not said much. All we have heard from the police is the man was a homeless man, a mentally challenged person according to family members of the shooter, concealed a shotgun in his coat, entered the church, got into a conversation with a member, pulled out his gun, shot the member, and a voluntary security officer pulled his gun and shot the homeless man.
It could have been a single-shot shotgun for all I know! An innocent man died. And there are several members there in the Church that are voluntary security for the church who happen to be church members and also work as Peace Officers in their careers!
That's a good thing. Churches are targets for shootings today. Every Church should by now, have something worked out with members willing to provide armed security for these churches.
BUT SHOULD EVERY MEMBER IN THE CHURCH GO OUT AND BUY A HANDGUN TO BRING TO CHURCH? FUCK NO!
This church was fortunate to have actual Police officers as members to provide security, and it paid off- and maybe even saved one or more lives- WE JUST DON'T KNOW!
It would be nice to know how this mentally challenge homeless person acquired a gun.
To me, that is more of a concern than arming all the fucking choir boys and deacons with guns!
Sorry, but it is just the nature of this thread that OPie is using to push his Pro-Gun Agenda!

This story started out as a Gun Problem- where a homeless mentally challenged person armed with a shotgun enters a church and kills someone with it.

As is the usual with most of your replies, your anti-gun agenda is failing miserably.
They're not policed very well, oftentimes. A lot of places in the UK are gun free zones, and things don't always turn out so well. Now, they're trying to create knife free zones. That's not likely to work either.
Properly trained a deacon could carry a gun and defend the congregation.It just depends on the training. Jack Wilson owned a shooting range. It burnt to the ground in 2016. He also trained several members in that church who were on the church security team. He only had a head shot because parishioners were in between him and the shooter. He fired a single round to the head.

It's not just churches, security is important so much now in most public places. It seems even the smallest of restaurants better have a security plan.
I frequent a Biker/Musicians bar, and we have security meetings occasionally to discuss how we would handle a shooting attack whether it be from a motorcycle gang, or just your common nutbag wanting to kill someone. Since guns are not allowed in Drinking establishments in Texas, Certain TABC codes overides the original prohibition of carrying weapons in bars, and we strictly follow all the rules. I PITY THE FOOL THAT WALKS INTO our club and pulls a gun!
To cut this short, everybody that owns a business, church, school, or club better have a security plan that includes an armed security guard that is commissioned to carry a weapon.
