Oh, they will! It's human nature....usually the backside of the IQ bell curve but also the backside of the economic curve. Much of the hate rhetoric is fomented by those on the forward end of the IQ or economic curves. People like Tucker, Alex, the ex-prez, etc.

Notice how all the RWers are anti-union? They trust their corporate managers to do what's best for them without recourse by their employers. IMO, it's evidence that the rich and powerful are manipulating the poor and stupid.

Yep. You can, for example, look at Cato the Elder, a couple hundred years before Jesus, and you see the same thing. It's worth remembering that was over six centuries before the actual fall of the western Roman Empire, and five or six generations before Rome would hit its cultural peak. The very influences he feared and loathed became a central part of what made Rome rise to greatness -- its openness to foreign contributors and culture.

Historically, nations that become great typically do it by deciding against conservatives and nativists like Cato, and embracing progress and transformation.

Also most immigrant families fully assimilate by the third generation at the latest: my grandmother only spoke a few dozen words of English, even after years of being in North America.

It's not like America has been hurt by having some Cambodian and Peruvian restaurants, and some Hindu temples and Islamic mosques. I personally think we need more Ethiopian restaurants because their food is delicious!
