Apple to bring iPhone production back? Prices to double?

The production line at Apple in China has nets to stop their "employees" from jumping to their deaths during work.

I think the paradigm will have to be, since it is made in the First World, it will just have to be better made, not just cheap.

BAC, here was the thread. I apologize for my poor memory as several folks did respond. The stupid idiot Donald tried to hijack it however.

How many people here would be willing to pay double for their iPhone if it meant more of the phone was made in the U.S.?

Better question .. how will moves like this effect the economy?

let us see if apple will charge double or will keep thier prices down and get lower profits because they have competition.

the reason the first question is important is because Apple's not going to bring production back to lose money. So if they don't think people will buy at that higher price point that domestic production will cost they won't do it.

does apple have a monopoly? or are there other smart phones / tech products in the market?

Stupid question! The smartphone sector is highly competitive, it baffles me how Apple continue to make such high profit margins. I have Apple shares but expect them to decline unless they come up with some new products. I have a Lenovo K5 Note and it easily as good as an iPhone 7 for a quarter of the price.

The real question is for those in America who want off shoring to end how many are willing to pay double for their iPhone in order for it to happen?

None. Americans talk out their kista's about these things. They want good stuff cheap. If they (not someone else's tax monies) has to pay more for something, it will not happen. We as American consumers supporting businesses in America are our own worst enemy.

If Trump makes good on his promise to tax offshore profits at 10% then maybe Apple can afford to bring manufacturing back?
