No, it's not. It's analyzing political behavior, proposing explanations for it and trends throughout it, and forming intellectual consensus. It's not unlike psychology, which I'm sure you also don't consider a "real science". After all, you wouldn't be a true conservative if you didn't deny that science exists and mock formal education.

Is it done in a consistent fashion where there are rules, provable theories, quantifiable evidence, and repeatable results? I doubt it. Instead, it's far more likely a set of very loose opinions and fuzzy thinking that tries to describe things in subjective terms that are subject to change on a whim. "Intellectual consensus" without objective measurable and repeatable data is just a form of groupthink. It is opinion.

It's the nature of "soft science". Anthropology, archaeology, economics, human geography, linguistics, communication science, and political science are all examples of soft sciences. You can call it opinion if you want, but not all opinions are created equally.
