Her attorneys said she had her service dog with her during the protest.

According to court documents, Mendez allegedly threw an apple at Officer Nick Turney “at high velocity” while wearing a purple bandanna as a mask to cover her face.

Mendez also is said to have used her service dog, a German Shepard breed, “as a defense mechanism” along with the crowd, Turney wrote in his probable cause statement. He wrote that while she was in restraints, she escaped her handcuffs and ran from police, only to be caught and arrested again.

When police attempted to put in her into custody, she resisted and allegedly tried to run from police, court documents state.

Her bail was reduced from its original $25,000 to $5,000.
