Columbus opened up the world and was part of the age of exploration, which eventually led to westernization with it's good and bad parts. Manifest Destiny was bound to happen,and in the long run is a superior situation

In September, a New York City-based radical anarchist group known as “Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement” called on Antifa groups nationwide to participate in “Deface Columbus Day,” where anarchists plan to “decorate” their local neighborhoods. RAM is an “extremely militant group that advocates for the violent redistribution of property” and for “the abolition of gender,” according to Far Left Watch.
The group even made a promotional video for the day, which shows anarchists dressed in black defacing and destroying monuments:

The battles lines have been drawn and white supremacists are on notice. White nationalist statues are crumbling all over the US as our collective revolutionary power is growing. As the monuments of white supremacist society fall we must continue to make it clear that their reign of terror is coming to an end.
For the occasion of Columbus Day, October 9th, one of the most vile ‘holidays’ of the year, the Revolutionary Abolitionist Movement is calling for collectives all over the country to take action against this day and in support of indigenous people in the US and abroad who have been victims of colonialism and genocide.
We are calling for groups to “decorate” their neighborhoods as they see fit: put up murals, wheatpaste posters, drop a banner, etc. On October 9th put a picture of your action on social media and use the hashtags below. Statues of Christopher Columbus, thanks to whom Europeans discovered and colonized the Americas, were vandalized in Illinois, Rhode Island and in three cities in Connecticut on the national holiday dedicated to his memory.
The Columbus statue in Chicago’s Arrigo Park was splattered with red paint, and words “mass murderer” and “decolonise” were spray-painted on the sidewalk next to the monument.
No one was in custody for the act of vandalism on Monday.
The same statue had been vandalized on Saturday as well. A witness saw three men defacing the statue and confronted them, according to local police.
One of them fell off the bike when trying to escape. The witness detained him until police arrived.
Kyle Miskell, 30, was charged with felony counts of criminal damage to government property, and criminal defacement of property.
Police departments of three cities in Connecticut ‒ Middletown, New Haven and Norwalk ‒ said Monday they were investigating vandalism perpetrated against their Columbus statues.
Someone wrote “kill the colonizer” with red paint on the 15-century explorer’s memorial in Middletown, NBC reported citing the police.
The monument to Columbus in Providence, Rhode Island was also splattered with red paint, local media reported.
Over the past several months, there have also been attacks on Columbus statues in New York and Baltimore, Maryland. The 225-year-old statue in Baltimore is said to be the oldest in the country, and possibly even in the world, dedicated to Columbus that is still standing.

Attacking Columbus statues and canceling Columbus Day parades are similar assaults on societal unity. They create division between the wider culture and Italian-Americans who are, of course, proud of the Italian man’s daring courage and his place in history. This extends to Latinos as well, who are similarly proud and claim Cristobal Colón as theirs. He sailed under the Spanish flag on ships famously provided by the Catholic king and queen of Spain after failing to find patronage in Italy. Without this feat and the subsequent Spanish colonization of the New World, the Western Hemisphere would not bear the imprint of Hispanic culture and civilization as it does. As such, Columbus is a symbol of Latino heritage up and down the Americas. There is no upside for Hispanics in the attacks on Columbus. We don’t want or need to be divided into descendants of the conquered versus the conquerors. We can be proud of both and preserve our unity.
