Plus, it was a FLASH FLOOD.

Meaning: little advance warning.

But... had the irresponsible dumb fuck trumpers in charge placed more importance on safety and human lives than lowering taxes for their mega wealthy donors, they would have had an interconnected network of sirens and some elevated shelters in place for those kids to run to.

And... had this happened in a blue state and/or under a Democrat President, you trumper idiots would have been howling and spewing your usual hate-vomit from day one.

Red states suck and get what they voted for.

The weather service had been issuing weather warnings, watches, and alerts throughout the day. Anyone with a weather radio wouldn't been sleeping there that night.

I live literally one street over from the tornado siren in my town. They test at noon on the first Wednesday of every month. If you are in the house with a TV going you may or may not hear it. If you are outside you can easily hear it. Sirens along the river may not work for everyone. A weather radio make a very load alarm for weather alerts. They are less than $50 on Amazon. Some even have hand cracks so they can work in power outages. Every cabin where people lived should have had a radio. They should have evacuated the camp when the NWS told them to evacuate low lying areas.

Reports are showing that the people rejected the alerts because "the sounds would disturb its people by going off all the time"...google it. It's also broadcast to WEA capable phones (almost all smartphones). The weather service does NOT issue evacuation orders. Watches and alerts DO warn you to take protective action, though. That cheap weather radio can give you much earlier warnings though!
