Another thought on Egyptian revolution

Put your shirt back on, Beefy...you're not impressing anyone with your bluff and bluster. I didn't say they were "hiding" the facts....just not talking about the specifics (i.e., military hardware) on par with reporting the other aspects (at first). Wael Ghonim said the other night on 60 Minutes, they don't need the USA to be involved because we suported Mubarak. That mindset wasn't touted equally with all the hoo-hah about the Muslim Brotherhood in the early days of the revolt, now was it?

There are many disparate factions in Egyptian politics and the likelihood is that the MB would end up with the largest percentage of votes in an election. Do you really think the army will sit back and allow them into power?
Algeria is a template, in my view, of what could happen.

Ahhh, but the MB are NOT the majority of the protesters....in fact, the MB only joined in AFTER the people took to the streets un masse,,,and the majority of those folk are secular. I seriously doubt that the MB will have the sizeable influence in any new gov't that is being predicted....they will have representation, though.

They will most likely end up as the party with the largest number of votes and any coalition government will have to include them. To say otherwise is just denying the available facts.

Why beat it to death.....we've been selling Egypt military hardware for 30 years and everyone knows it....its not news, except maybe to you that you think it should be head lining on the news....the "OTHER ASPECTS" is the NEWS....fool!

The MB murdered Sadat in order for him to become President and have tried to assassinate him at least 6 times over the years..... the MB are a force to be reckoned with, much bigger than our biased media will let on....Egypt is more likely to go the way of Iran than not....we shall see.....

What "facts" are you refering to? I'm not denying a sizeable representation in a democratically elected gov't by the MB, but it's up in the air as to who will have the swing/dominant vote. Actually, this is all hypothetical until Egypt actually starts setting up it's gov't....and I'm not willing to readily buy into the fear mongering born of US/Israeli interests.

Actually, it was an off-shoot radical faction of the MB that killed Sadat....the main group has always denounced violence as a means to the end, which is why Al Qaeda is at odds with them. Mubarak's main contention was keeping the MB down as a political force (the last free elections had them at 20% of the vote). Iran is a whole other smoke with regards to Egypt, as our CIA had DIRECT involvment in overthrowing a democratically elected gov't and training their secret police (savak).

But as you say, we shall see.
