No homicide charges will be filed against a 17-year-old teen who fatally shot a community choir director in the face with an illegal gun, prosecutors said Tuesday. The shooting is considered justified under Florida's stand-your-ground law because the 40-year-old victim, Julius Jerome Jacobs, was carrying a large stick.


The state attorney’s office in Marion Country said that, although Tyrone Pierson possessed the gun illegally and although his friend managed to escape the same confrontation by fleeing the scene, Pierson is protected under SYG. He was therefore not under any obligation to attempt to retreat before using deadly force.

Wow, Florida really has to change its laws.

To be on the fair side. Mr. Jacobs should have just driven off, not confronted them again.

But the teen shouldn't have shot him.

Well, at least one illegal gun is off the street. But the cost of that!
 
So....SYG seems to work no matter what your race.....liberals ought to find that interesting

The fact that the other teen just walked away without an confrontation and there doesn't seem to be an actual attack from Jacobs.....and the
gunman was illegally in possession of the gun....that chances of convicting the teen thug of some degree of homicide is about 99%.....

But, to avoid a racial riot and more Rev. Jackson and Rev. Sharpton race baiting speeches, I don't see charges being brought.....

Yet the vast majority of SYG cases are of blacks defending themselves against race crimes.....

The kid felt threatened; shot Jacobs. I can understand why they didn't charge him for the murder given their laws.

responsibility for injured bystanders has never been changed, moron. unless you're a cop. then it's just doing their job and they shouldn't be held liable for mistakes. so tell us, idiot, why do you demand accountability for citizens, but not for cops who are supposed to be expertly trained?
