This is pure idiocy. Another example of why I can't support the political green movement - they are extremists who support all kinds of unnecessary alarmism and pseudoscience.

The current population of the Earth is sustainable. It will be sustainable, even at current growth levels, for a long time to come. What we need to do is to simply educate people about birth control and such, and in a few generations we'll probably be population neutral without any coercive measures. It's not like we need to immediately stop growth or face massive shortages. Claims like that have been being made for hundreds of years, and none of them have ever come to fruition.
