Chicago is more violent. But sadly Dallas is a Blue city too.
I was under the impression that Texas is a very red state. I won't visit there because of its stupidity.
And yet Indiana does not have the terrible violent gun problem that Chicago does. It is obvious that criminals don't follow gun laws.
The state is red but Dallas , Houston, Austin and San Antonio are blue cities. You would blend in there. Lots of criminals.

more gun laws won't make a difference either. And, yes, the ONLY reason to add more regulations and laws regarding guns is because most Democrats, and some Republicans, want guns banned for civilians, eventually. It's been talked about for decades.
