No, land is inanimate. Fools decided people in vacant areas get a minimum voting credit based on the empty space between themselves and the next loner. They gave it an arbitrary number and that was 2. Land does not pull a lever or hang a chad.

it's based on representation in the Senate ( 2 senators) added to the number of representatives in Congress.
It's reflective of the make up of Congress itself, not "arbitrary"

The Senators represent and are elected by the people. They are therefore respresenting and voting on behalf of the people of the state. They are not representing acres of "land" and empty cotton fields.

Personally, I think it is ridiculous that 35 million Californians are represented by two Senators, while five million people in Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Idaho, and Nebraska are represented by ten Senators.

if it wasn't done that way there wouldn't even be a constitution........it was a requirement of states like Maine and Rhode Island to get them to join the union, just as states like New York and Virginia insisted on representation by population.......

read the thread.. I mentioned the EC reflects the make-up of Congress,, do you really think I mean that ACTUAL LAND votes -or the fact that states ( being land) get 2 electors just for being states??
