In Journalism, this is what is called a misleading POS headline, and done with malice aforethought in this case, since it is Fox spewing crap about a democrat:

In Duckworth’s case, the 53-year-old U.S. senator pays zero in property taxes because she has a disability rating of 70% or higher, as determined by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Sun-Times reported.

Duckworth lost both of her legs and some use of her right arm after the helicopter she was piloting was hit by a rocket-fired grenade in Iraq in 2004.

I for damn sure don't begrudge her that benefit. Two lost legs and a busted up wing is probably rated higher than 70%(but less than 100% because that means you can't work at all). For the purposes of this exercise, lets say 80%. What does that mean? It means that 80% of her $64k military pension is NOT TAXED AT ALL. Again, I'm all for this because I don't think military pay, active duty or retired, should be taxed at all. If she gets re-elected 2 more times, she can retire from congress at age 65, and receive a big old hunk of her congressional pay, plus social security and medicare(yes, military retirees go on mandatory medicare at 65, and they have to purchase the same supplemental policies that civilians do). What's my point? I never want to hear Duckworth or any of her jackass colleagues bitching about the rich not paying their "fair share" or not paying taxes at all, when everyone knows if that were true, it'd be the Salem witch trials all over again and the smell of CEOs burning at the stake would be intolerable(not to mention ecologically unsound). To her credit, I haven't heard anything about her views on the subject at all.

Duckworth has a net worth of around half a million, and income $174k. She has to keep up two homes, both in relatively expensive areas. She has no family money. She is one of the poorest Senators.

Duckworth served this country, and sacrificed a lot, but Republicans tell us that is not worthy of anything. trump chickened out of Vietnam, and Republicans think that is worthy of generous tax give aways.

I don't need proof to know that a person making 175k a year, not even counting the spouse, can pay annual taxes into the community they reside in. this loophole is one I would eliminate with a simple means test
