A student holding a sign that read “You deserve rape” ignited outrage across campus Tuesday, on the same day of a sexual assault awareness event, but administrators declined requests to remove him or his sign.

Dean Saxton — also known as Brother Dean Samuel — regularly preaches on the UA Mall in front of Heritage Hill and the Administration building. On Tuesday, his sermon drew the attention of onlookers, several of whom either personally confronted him or complained to the Dean of Students Office.

That man needs to get laid. He's just pissed off and bitter because he can't score. U of A does have some fine women though... (can't beat ASU however. nothing tops sun and dumb)

No, rape has nothing to do with whether or not a man can get laid. Rapists don't rape because they are just soooo horny and don't know how to date (if that were the case SF would be in prison). Rapists rape because they enjoy controlling and humiliating women. That's what they get off on, so a yes isn't much fun for them.

The guy is a fucking idiot. His sign is stupid. He does not deserve to be removed. You have no right to be unoffended. The first amendment means fuck all if it does not protect the idiot holding the sign or an idiot in a Klan uniform. I am amazed at how many people think that anyone who causes offense should be removed from the public eye.
 
I don't want him removed Soc ... Taken behind the barn and punched in the nose a couple of times ... But not removed. But then that is of my baser urges when offended ... But one of the most heinous, despicable, cowardly crimes to me is rape. To me folks who engage in such are screaming, "I've got a short pecker!" much more vociferously than folks who own a few guns.

I don't feel that creating a pro-rape atmosphere on a college university is a matter of being "offended". But I do think that is a very libertarian (white male) reaction to the story.

LR I got not problem with that either. I believe in free speech, but I also believe in the law of consequences. The school should do nothing to remove him, but if someone nut punts the fucker, he shoulda seen that coming.
 
Using his own argument against him would be comical but wrong. I mean, one could say if you don't want to get beaten with a tire iron you should not hold a sign that entices people to do just that.

Give it a rest. One person holding a sign like that does not create a pro-rape atmosphere any more than allowing anti-war protesters creates a pacifist atmosphere. You are another that has proven that freedom for you is subjective, if you are offended by something or don't agree then it shouldn't be protected by the first amendment. The ACLU has defended Neo-Nazis and KKK members right to free speech. Do you think that means they agree or want to promote a pro-racist atmosphere. You think that because you are a woman you can make stupid comments like that and no one will call you on it.

Yeah Soc, I think that no one here will call me on anything because I"m a woman. If you've notice no one here ever calls me on something. All men here ever do is argue with me and especially about rape when they attempt to silence me. You must be joking or on drugs to make that staggeringly stupid comment.

I think that you lately have let your reviews go to your head. The fact is that you have been minimizing rape a couple of times, the first on Tom's thread, where you waltzed in and posted that some men are falsely convicted. A strawman, that no one had ever argued. On a thread that was slut shaming women and posting videos of them out dancing in short skirts as an explanation for rape stats in England, that's a diversionary tactic that minimizes rape. ANd here by basically mocking anyone who thinks this is a bit more than a case of a whiny bitch having her fee fees hurt. But anytime anyone argues with you, the amen chorus comes on to say, anyone arguing with Soc is A LUNATIC because he is so moderate and fair. That's nonsense.

And I won't "give it a rest" because some guy told me to shut up. I do not get silenced by you, or your amen chorus. That you can bet on.

I would love to see this case taken to court. Free speech on campus is not absolute, and though certainly it is moreso on college campuses, it still is not absolute there.

And just because you want me to shut up, and march on here and tell me to shut up, won't cause me to do so, nor I imagine will it silence activists on campus. So we'll see what happens in this case.
