That's stupid. They have few benefits as a probationary employee. They're not highly compensated like their same-job cohort. Why not keep them and let them move into positions vacated by those who opted to leave or who were let go for being subpar?

The overhead of most departments is less than 1%. So if you remove 100% of the positions, that would only be a 1% reduction in government. With benefits rising at 1%, obviously removing positions will do little to nothing.

If you want smaller government, you need to start cutting benefits. trump has been playing around with bouncing checks to the states to cut benefits, but then has quickly claimed it was a mistake.
