CNN star Anderson Cooper defended his network’s widely reviled town hall with former president Donald Trump, condemning “ridiculous lies” Trump told at the event, but also admonishing critics who feel CNN should never held it.

“You have every right to be outraged today and angry and never watch this network again,” Cooper said on his show late Thursday, the day after the town hall. “But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?”

Yes, God forbid not appearing on CNN would doom Trump to obscurity.

Cooper exaggerated it at both ends. Few if any are vowing never to watch CNN again (which is beside the point anyway) and listening only to people we agree with isn't the alternative to giving Trump all that prime time just to repeat before a cheering audience the garbage he's said a hundred or a thousand times. If that defense of the show is the best CNN can come up with they had better shut up.

Is there anybody that has not heard Trump state all his complaints and beliefs ad nauseum?

What time does it start? All I saw was a biased prick vomiting bias on "the most trusted name in news"

CNN also claims it was merely practicing journalism. Another pathetically weak defense. Journalism is covering the news, not making it.

Typically, the people swearing to never watch something again weren’t watching it in the first place.

Although Pedo Don and the Trumpers will continue to lie, the fact remains that Trump is on record pushing his election lies, lying about “the Wall” and supporting the Insurrection. CNN will be playing clips from the Town Hall from now until the Summer of ‘24.

It was mostly journalism. I like Kaitlin Collins. She’s very intelligent and has come very far for a 31 year old. Still, I will agree she did cross over into “making the news” a few times but don’t know if that was her volition or her producer(s).

As anyone who watched it or read the transcript knows, Trump has no honor, no integrity and is a consummate liar. It would be irrational to expect Trump to adhere to the standards of a purely journalistic setting.

CNN has been hemorrhaging viewers for the last decade and with that goes advertisers.

CNN just posted their lowest earnings projection this year in their history.

Two years ago they brought in Licht to reverse this slide and he stated that cnnywas going to get away from opinion shows and focus on facts and as you know the biggest liberal hosts have already been fired.

Cooper is the most respected journalist on the network but he has a long history of partisanship so he has dodged the axe so far but he doesn’t fit into Licht’s long term vision

So, CNN is going full right wing.

Why shouldn't CNN have trump on their network? Cooper is right trump isnt going anywhere and the whining only makes leftists look more pathetic, if that's possible.

Mr. Licht, who took over CNN last year after the network was acquired by Warner Bros. Discovery, has had a rocky tenure, and some journalists there have bristled at his public comments that the network had veered too far into an anti-Trump stance when Mr. Trump was in the White House.

The only good thing about giving Trump a platform on CNN, is it showed/reminded us what Trump stands for and what he is all about too?!! I use to like CNN, but will let it go now?!!

Apparently you have a lot of snowflakes in your ranks who need a "safe space" if they see trump. Pathetic idiots
