and the gop wants to cut back on food stamps...hunger in america

If you claim that this is the worst economy since the Great Depression, then you cannot deny that a large portion of the country needs help. This is help with food. Hard to see that as a bad thing.

Yeah, many people need assistance in this economy...thats why we need to get rid of our BO....he stinks.

Well, if it looks like the little fucks will be a getting welfare/food stamps, etc., after birth, abort them before it gets that far.....
Thats Apples solution to the hungry parasites....

That's so mindlessly stupid it can only be sick comedy. A response so mindlessy programmed that it almost seems non-human.

I bet you call yourself a "patriot."

That would be equally stupid.

Support the troops, huh?

Wait .. let me guess .. Soldiers are just a bunch of, what did you call them?

"little fucks" and you suggested that their babies be aborted before they become little fucks feeding off the government just like their parents are.

This is where you get to run away.

It was YOU pinheads that connected abortion to food stamps and the hungry in 9,10 and 12.......not me.....
and like I pointed out, this the very same, exact solution to the problem of suffering children that your friend Apple suggests.....
this is HIS defense of why abortion is needed ......

Its time you look up the meaning of "facetious'
I on the other hand, don't support killing through abortion on demand.
Thats your bag.

You just don't like it when you own stupidity is thrown right back in your faces....

And I didn't mention 'patriotism' or the 'troops' at all....where did you dig that lying shit....?

I don't know what's going on in America. I just know it makes me ashamed that there are Americans who don't care if their fellow citizens are hungry.

Indeed there were plenty of organizations. But most of them no longer exist.

And those organizations couldn't keep up the demand even then. Poverty and insecurity was all most senior Americans could expect. Before Social Security, most seniors worked until they died. They couldn't afford not to.

Some of these republicans who attack social safety-nets probably have stock in dog and cat food companies. They'd like to go back to the days when older Americans were eating it.

Again, this exposes the so-called "pro-life" movement for the fraud that it is.

I understand the need to cut the budget, and I understand that everyone wants the cuts to be made "somewhere else". But considering what we spend on our military, corporate welfare and the like, making the first cuts be cuts to such a basic safety net is ridiculous. If the entire foodstamp program were removed, it would not produce significant enough savings to count.

:0) I have no clue what you just said. Seriously

Whatever it was it had absolutely nothing to do with military families on food stamps or calling our soldiers "little fuckers."

No, you didn't say anything about patiotism, I did. Or did you think only the brain-dead get to use the word?

And, if you weren't brain-dead you could have quite easily figured out why I called you on it.

You like to fling around bad names and cast dispersions on people in need and on families other than your own. This isn't the first time you've done it.

Naw, it is you who doesn't like it coming back. It is you who is too stupid to even know what the hell you're talking about.

Bullshit meme and programmed talking points. That's you.

I agree with you.

Understand that what we spend on our "military" isn't exactly trickling down to our actual soldiers .. else they wouldn't be on food stamps. The military/industrial complex is a top-down corporation .. yes, corporation.

How about spending less on needless wars and far less on building maniacal weapons of war and destruction that only a demon would love, or even possess?

How about closing bases all over the planet, taxing corporations what they were taxed when America was most prosperous, and spending the savings on the American people?

Shut up idiot

One little store, how many more are doing the same thing....

FLINT, Mich. (AP) - A federal jury has reached a guilty verdict against a Flint store owner accused of participating in a $612,000 food stamp fraud scheme.

U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade says 55-year-old Noha Fofana was convicted of conspiracy to commit food stamp fraud.

Fofana owns Mandingo African market. McQuade says he redeemed $750,000 in food stamp benefits from February 2009 to July 2011, and $612,000 came from "food stamps-for-cash" exchanges.

Witnesses say Fofana and others would obtain Michigan bridge cards or bridge card numbers from recipients and call the numbers into the store.

They say members of the conspiracy then entered the bridge card numbers at the Mandingo Market in order to transfer the benefits to the market's bank account.

U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith is scheduled to sentence Fofana on Nov. 20.

I imagine we have lost billions of dollars over fraud.

From $612,000 to billions? Quite a leap there.

But I like how your answer to corruption is to cut the entire system. Were you planning to do that with the DoD budget as well?

Watch the ass clown run like a sissy from his own ignorant thoughts.

The only ignorant ideas that were posted were those morons that tried to connect the food stamp program with abortion....two totally unconnected issues,....
and that was YOU.....in post 9 and 12......just scroll back and own up to it....

And ONE store, in ONE city, defrauding the government of over $600,000 isn't just chump change.....
There are millions of stores in thousands of citys so the assumption that the fraud is rampant is valid.....
Just ONE store in each of a few thousand cities could mean big bucks.....duh

Welfare is about 11 or 12 % of total US spending.....you crunch the numbers

$80,000,000,000 per year, every year for food stamps.....? Thats outragious.

According to the World Health Organization, 120 Americans died from "lack of food" in 2004.

Starvation rates in the United States are generally not recorded due to the relative infrequency of the occurrence. Generally speaking, most people do not starve to death in America as a result of lack of access to food. A combination of government food programs and private charities help to ensure this. However, Americans do have a serious problem with malnutrition. Starvation (that is, death due to lack of food) in America, in the relatively rare instances that it does occur, is not usually an indication of poverty but rather a variety of other social issues.

The fraud rate in the program is about 1%. It'd probably be impossible to get it lower than that and, if you could, you'd probably spend more in fighting fraud than the fraudsters would take in the first instance.

Yes, it is outrageous to spend $80 billion on food stamps (that's the likely fiscal 2012 number, but is isn't an "every year" number) but I don't see the alternative in this economy. People gotta eat, and living on food stamps is a miserable existence as it is already.

Now, run the numbers in a fictional United States where there is no food stamp program.
