In Alabama that not neccessarily a bad thing!

You could argue that the general public should have arms to overturn any despotic regime that may take power but in my experience civilians with guns generally come off the worse against a trained military. Have done since the time of Sparticus, and probably beyond.

Probably not a good example. If I remember correctly Sparticus defeated Crassus.

The best method to overturn a despotic regime is to not allow it to occur, to have a politically aware populus and a citizen military that recognises the sovereignty of the people.

No, you lot should thank the bleeding French, seeing as how "colour" is clearly a bastardization of the English language via French influence (Battle of Hastings comes to mind).

Coercion never improves anyone's life, Watermark.

Let's take a brief look at history:

In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, approximately 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915-1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, 13 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally ill, and others, who were unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

And the list goes on...

The point is... wherever gun control is enacted, life is usually miserable. All that gun control accomplishes is the disarmament of law-abiding citizens. The result is a society controlled by criminals, police and corrupt government officials. Get a clue. Individual liberty (including the right to bear arms) is what made this country great. The use of force doesn't improve anything; it's called fascism and that my friend is what you are, a fascist.

My true plan:

In 2010, America enacted gun control, and in response to conservative who refused to disarm, sent tanks and easily crushed their puny resistance, and executed them for taking party. That's how America became the greatest nation on Earth, and an oasis of peace and freedom. We cleaned out the gene pool of the conservative infestation.
