America’s 10 worst years start right now!

It depends on which area of technology you are speaking about, didn't China recently develop the fast super computer? I believe Finland leads in high tech health care and Japan is definitely in the top ten. We are very technologically advanced, but we are losing ground to other nations. We gave Japan a big helping hand!

I am talking about technology in general. No one country will ever be the best technologically in every single aspect of technology.

middle class house in the US

I like the idea of a double garage and a single. I need another garage. :(

I like the lawns. I have trouble with my lawn. The neighborhood is built on bedrock with clay and then a bit of topsoil. Makes for a solid house foundation but the lawns just dry out.

Not enough garages. Lousy lawns. You sure know how to depress a guy. :(

Scott's turf builder, solved that prob for me

It is so pretty~

The biggest problems this country faces are primarily a result of liberal ideology, not conservative. Medicare/Medicaid and Social Security are the biggest threats to our future. (the former much more so than the latter)

It has nothing to do with Liberal ideology. It has to do with the mismanagement of funds and a perfect example is Cheney's words, "War was an option we could afford."

Medical care. Pensions. To imply the US can not look after it's citizens and support those two things is absurd.

Instead of cutting programs insist your Congressman demand funds allocated for those programs be frozen. Untouchable. Want a balanced budget? Start with those programs and then see if the budget allows for other things.

Every maintenance worker in a National Park is one more hospital worker. Every statue in a park is a dozen hospital beds.

The ill come first. Every trail/path in a National Park is one less new floor for a hospital. Every information/welcome kiosk is another hospital room.

Priorities. It's all about priorities.

More stupidity. Does it ever end with you?

1) We are one of the most technologically advanced countries on the planet.

2) In terms of new innovation of technology, we are second to none (though others could be considered equals)

3) We are not dependent on other countries. That is a common fallacy among liberals. We CHOOSE to develop products overseas because it is a BENEFIT to us (lower priced goods) and to them (jobs). We have the natural resources to return production to the US anytime we choose.

4) We are no where near third world status in terms of population growth, disease, illiteracy (though liberal domination in the dept of education is trying hard to send us to third world status)

So once again, your 'we are going towards third world status' is nothing but idiocy.

I need another garage as well, who'd a thunk the wife wouldn't allow a boat in the garage.

I'm currently trying to convince the Mrs. we should knock down a part of the wall between the rec room and the garage. I'm currently using the rec room as a workshop so it would make the ideal place to over-winter my tiny MG.

The things us men have to contend with.

The best example of mismanagement of funds is promising something that future generations have to pay for.

I did not imply we couldn't take care of the two. I stated we cannot afford the systems as they are currently designed. Social security is a relatively easy fix. Medicare is not.

We have to stop the cause of rising health care and simply shouting 'guaranteed coverage for all' is not going to fix a damn thing. In fact it is going to make matters far worse.

Instead of cutting programs insist your Congressman demand funds allocated for those programs be frozen. Untouchable. Want a balanced budget? Start with those programs and then see if the budget allows for other things.

I do agree to an extent with the above. Funding for programs should be on a basis of 'must do' projects/programs first and 'want to do' projects/programs second.

Where I disagree is simply freezing the spending on those two. Obama stated that he had found $500b in waste in Medicare. I want to see the idiots in DC actually eliminate that waste.

Thanks, many make claims that I am not very smart, but I am darned funny in person, and not just to look at. I am okay to look at if you like Susan Sarandon, people claim I look like her when they see me in person.

You do look like her. It's the first thing I noticed.
