The average retail price for electricity gained 7.4% in September to a record 18.07 cents per kilowatt-hour, the biggest gain since December 2023, according to data released Tuesday.

American households are paying more than ever before for electricity after prices surged the most in almost two years, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

It is 14.26 cent kw hour here.

Biden wanted to switch to solar and wind. That is the most expensive way to generate power. As we build more gas and nuclear generation the price of electricity will fall.

A ton of this has to do with the Ukraine war, we are exporting a ton of LNG to Europe so they can avoid buying Russian stuff... This is creeping into our supply and demand is getting high in certain areas due to cold.

If the Chinese were doing the deciding this energy diet with extreme costs that the West is doing is exactly what they would write for us.

It is catastrophic for civilization.

No....you have failed to understand the situation...the stripping of US Nat Gas to send to Europe is a colossal blunder that will lead to major problems for America and Americans.....but it is so far a minor player in electricity inflation.

Right on kew................ but biden

The massive export of gas is a bullet point in the memo "The people who run America dont care about us, and they are generally no longer willing to even pretend otherwise".

The intermittent energy is the big problem....I was told recently by an expert the reason is that one must built 5X the generation capacity PLUS still keep reliable energy on standby......the claim that it is cheap is complete BullShit....which is obvious by what happens to prices once intermittent generation is installed.

Plus the grid becomes more unstable.....the upgrading of the grid to prevent collapses in theory is possible, but it will be expensive....we have barely even begun to face those costs.

You are just making crap up now.

Rising Natural Gas Prices (Primary Fuel Cost Driver): Natural gas accounts for about 40% of U.S. electricity generation. Prices for gas delivered to power plants averaged $4.17 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) in the first half of 2025, 46% higher than in 2024, due to export surges to Europe and Asia, plus domestic production constraints from maintenance and weather disruptions. This flowed through to wholesale power prices, up 7% nationally in 2025 per EIA forecasts. In September, gas prices spiked further amid low inventories, directly contributing around 3-4 percentage points to the retail increase.

BullShit

The reason you are wrong is because the building of LNG facilities lagged production increases...that is now mostly over. The price we have been paying for gas to the electric generation is in line with historical norms....when massive electric price increases were not imposed as they are now. They are being installed now because of AI and intermittent energy.

I dont have the evidence but I have heard that there is no doubt looking at the data that so far the most major price increases have been where AI is being or has been built.

We hae huge reserve of NG we just need to drill baby drill.

Exporting large amounts to Europe is an example of how globalist ideology matters more to the people in charge than you do.
