I've been a fan of the Daily Show since Stewart took over from Kilborne in 1998, but Stewart has really gone downhill since Obama's election. He refuses to poke fun at Obama, possibly for good reason considering his audience's hostile reaction the few times he has tried.

There is lots of cheering for his shows from the audience these days, but not too much laughter. I think Stewart should boot some of the crowd and start subjecting Obama to the same acerbic wit as Bush, before the Daily Show fades into distant memory.

Colbert has been able to cope with Obamania through his faux-hatred of Obama, and his audience is happy to play along. Stewart's audience, on the other hand, is filled with people who are political liberals first, and viewers of comedy second; and his show since November has painfully reflected that.

In any case, Stewart needs to make some kind of change to his formula soon. There is only so much adoring praise viewers can tolerate from a show that developed its reputation for skewering those in power.

stewart will be just another dead talent show host after the obama admin crashes and burns.

1. The Daily Show is not a talent show.

2. Obama's administration isn't going to crash. He's not a conservative. Logically, only a conservative administration can crash, because cosnervatism is a fallacious, illogical, failed ideology while liberalism is based in reality and everything good.

During the Bush years, Stewart had absolutely no problem making fun of Democrats but the party in power got most of the attacks. He always used that excuse for why he focused more on the Republicans than the Democrats.

Now the tables are turned and he's still making fun of Republicans with their 39 Senate seats as though they were in power. He's a hypocrite, which of course any intelligent person has always known, but now it is demonstrated. But anyway I don't have to rant here. His decline in ratings over the next year or two will speak for themselves and I'll grab this thread at a later point in time. The inauguration episode will forever be known as the high watermark of the Daily Show.

Mott shut the fuck up. No one asked your geriatric opinion of a youth-targeted show.

As I just said I've watched every Daily Show since 1998. And no, Stewart is not doing a good job holding his feet to the fire. And it has been seven months since Stewart's show has trasnformed into a lovefest.

But we are in a War On Recession. It is unamerican to talk bad about a war president isn't it?
WellsChaseAIG economic terrorists will rally around us degenerating our president!

Man, what a dork

I personally think its the advent of the Colbert Report that has caused the decline of the Daily Show. It just has been totally unable to compete for laughs, and if anyone recalls, I was very highly skeptical of Colbert when he first began...

Of course, I still watch both. But it is clear that Colbert's taken over and dominated, and has continued to do so even with Bush out of office.

Are you serious? Its obviously a left leaning show, but the clip above demonstrates that its wit is sharp as hell. That clip is fucking hilarious.
