Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
The real issue here should be why do women have to have chess contests separate from the men.?? The answer is women are mentally inferior - but we're not allowed to say that.

feb 22 2017 One American champion is voicing her opposition to “women’s oppression” by boycotting the women’s world chess championship in Iran rather than bow to Iranian demands that she wear a hijab, or headscarf.

“By participating, I would be forced to submit to forms of oppression designed specifically for women,” Nazí Paikidze insisted. “It sets the wrong example, particularly for young girls interested in chess.”

Paikidze, the current U.S. chess champion, could be competing for up to $100,000 in prize money. However, she has refused to attend the event.

Oh and you've obviously never heard of Judit Polgár, she became a Grandmaster at the age of fifteen beating the record set by Bobby Fischer. She has also defeated both Gary Kasparov and Boris Spassky. Maybe a better question might be why so many Russian and Eastern European players dominate chess, fancy answering that one?

Before spouting off you really ought to have read this, it explains very well why there is a difference.

t's changing..I retired from all competitive chess about 5 years ago. A friend owns a chess club -realy it'sn instructional center for kids, and occasional tournaments.
Chess has changed with computers -it's razor edged variants that extend 10plys (moves) or more.

We saw that in Kasparov -really all modern grandmasters. The days of club chess -whereyou might not play the sharpest lines
but make up for it later in the game are just about gone...lo they are gone.
No room for errors anymore -muchless a blunder.

current world champ is Magnus Carlson -from Norway.
He's defended his title too - the guy is like mid 20's!

Fucking Muslims even ruin chess.
the irony here is chess was invented in India but only spread world wide after it was modernized in Persia.
Farsi phrase "shāh māt = checkmate

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_chess
The earliest predecessor of the game probably originated in India, before the 6th century AD; a minority of historians believe the game originated in China. From India, the game spread to Persia. When the Arabs conquered Persia, chess was taken up by the Muslim world and subsequently spread to Southern Europe. In Europe, chess evolved into roughly its current form in the 15th century.

The same thing is true of the the number placement system, which was invented in India, but became known as Arabic numerals.

I wonder if Siddhartha Gautama played 'chess' in India as a kid ( before he left his father's kingdom)?

Ashtāpada (Sanskrit: अष्टापद) or Ashtapadi is an Indian board game which predates chess and was mentioned on the list of games that Gautama Buddha would not play.

you link about sheer statistical numbers of women not playing at recognized levels is it.

That chess center I mentioned now has large numbers of youth and adolescent women players.
Did you ever lose to a 14year old? They say "good game" and give you a look of pity-past your prime

"American female chess champ refuses to wear hijab in Iran tournament"

Excellent.

While the United States Constitution may not apply in Tehran, our citizens remain imbued with our principles, regardless of where on Earth they trod.
If Muslims wanna wear a hat, let 'em.

But their screwy religion isn't binding on U.S.

%$#@ them!
$#@! Them!

If they don't like it they can play checkers!

You saying women are as good as men at chess? So why do they refuse to play in the men's tournaments??? THINK

TK #18

Psychologist Joy Browne PhD said the reason they have women's tournaments & leagues is so the men have a chance to win something too.

She also said Ginger Rodgers & Fred Astaire may have been the most talented dancing team of all time.

BUT !!

Ginger Rodgers matched Fred Astaire step for step.

BUT !!

She did so in a tight dress, on high heels, and dancing backwards.
