America will tilt left for years to come

I don't think primary voters have really thought this through. They're voting to stick it to the GOP & the system, but that "statement" will have ramifications for a long, long time.

Trump simply can't win a general election. This is setting up to be just like the Goldwater election, and chances are that Republicans will lose the Senate also. It's a disaster for conservatism.

What this means in practical terms is a Supreme Court that will tilt left for decades, and little to no action on the debt crisis. Nothing will change in the next 4 years.

Such a drag. Hillary is a weak candidate, but she'll beat Trump handily, with as little enthusiasm from most voters as we've seen in years. And the GOP had very good candidates to choose from. They blew it.

I really try not to think about it. Too depressing. Also why I don't get deeply involved in political discussions here or elsewhere anymore. I definitely feel defeated...by the national Democratic Party and by our local Republican Party...neither of which represents me very well at all.

Merrick Garland ... why I have never voted for a democrat for president.

Not going to matter now.

then move

its tilting left because your shitty ideas failed

why dont you idiots get some new ideas that might work

You're definitely more conservative than me - but I feel basically the same way. I believe in balance. Obama took this country pretty far left. I genuinely wanted someone on the conservative side to win this time, and the last thing I imagined was that Hillary would have such a good chance to become President. I don't hate Hillary, but she won't be a good President.

I get the disillusionment of primary voters w/ the GOP in general. But Kasich was a good candidate; Jeb was probably the best of the 3 Bushes; even Rubio was smart & articulate, and a committed conservative. I don't get the Trump thing & never will - it's like a hail mary in the 2nd quarter or something. Just an act of insanity.

Why move? I love it here. I just wish we weren't setting ourselves up for failure.

And quit it w/ the "failed ideas." Both sides have had whoppers. The Dems get most of the credit for the $19 trillion debt - which will undermine just about everything you believe in, btw.

your both rightwing

YOU

are not the middle

to be in the middle you have to NOT USE LIES to defend your failed positions

While I agree that Trump is too left leaning in many respects he is not unelectable given the dem hopefulls.

If you are unhappy that the GOP apple cart is being turned over well that's too bad. The GOP chose not to listen to people and just as we did in my district we booted Eric Cantor. GOP asked for this in their arrogance.

The silent majority woke up (not just the right, Sanders showed great discontent on the left).

I'm glad for this paradigm shift. You may find a return to financial sanity refreshing as well.

It's intriguing that she spends so much time saying people should vote for Democrats yet hates people who may support Democrats but aren't "pure" enough Democrats to her liking.

She's the worst kind of intolerant liberal.

There are hacks like that on both sides, and it's so unhealthy for the country. Like quite a few old timers that I know, I get really nostalgic about the "old days." I remember when Reagan & Tip O'Neil set the tone, and actually exchanged ideas respectfully and reached effective compromise. People could talk politics back then without being shouted down.

I've been proven wrong before about Trump but I still don't see how he wins a national election with white voters only.

Financial sanity? I don't see how we return to that without cuts to entitlement or the military. Or if we have incredible growth. But we won't have any growth if he kicks out 12 million illegals

I disagree about electability. Really, angry white dudes do not make a winning coalition in 2016. Too many people have made their mind up about Trump. No way that he gets near 50%.

I saw an exit poll from one of the races where 2/3 of the GOP primary voters who voted for other candidates said they'd vote 3rd party in the fall if Trump was the nominee.

Neither do Democrats - and please don't count the internet boom of the '90's. My dog could have been President and we'd have had unbelievable prosperity.

The Dems are largely responsible for our current debt. I wouldn't call that a "good fiscal record."

your ideas don't fucking work in practice you liebot

Do you really believe that's true?

I do. Both parties bear responsibility, but Democrats have controlled Congress (and the purse strings) for most of the past 5-6 decades. I also believe that Dem policies have hurt small businesses and helped contribute to jobs moving abroad, among other ramifications. Dems are certainly responsible for most of the entitlements that take up ever-increasing segments of the budget.
