So? Let me be clear on this: They're both liars, abusers and drug addicts...and that doesn't matter. All that matters is whether or not Heard's article defamed Depp.

I've already posted the legal defamation. "Penetration, however slight, constitutes the act." Since Depp clearly abused Heard, regardless how much of a lying POS whore she was, Depp loses.

Agreed on Depp's behavior. I do have compassion for those who try, even if they fail. I don't have compassion for whiners who won't even get up even though they have the means to do so.

There's a difference between me having compassion for a demented old alkie shut-in and no compassion for a rich asshole alkie who can fly to Switzerland in a private jet for the best psychotherapy in the world. The situations are not equal even if their conditions are exactly the same.

Overcoming addiction and childhood abuse isn’t as easy as flying to Switzerland for psychotherapy, you and your education should know addiction and child abuse victims have a lifelong struggle, you just don’t have therapy and get better, there are a lot of people who never recover, rich and poor.

Agreed on the struggle but Depp quit the struggle. Robert Downey Jr knows he's still an addict. It's a moment-by-moment process.

Take two alkies; one has been sober for 10 years and regularly goes to AA meetings plus met all the requirements of the 12-step program. Another still drinks daily, blames others and made a feeble attempt to dry himself out 10 years ago. Do you really expect me to have the same level of compassion and respect for each of them? Sorry, but I won't because one's a whining quitter and the other continues the struggle. I respect fighters, not quitters.

That said, I fully support offering help to quitters...help which Depp clearly does not need since he has ample resources for help.

We all have our heroes but Hollywood celebrities, the rich and sports stars are not mine. I have nothing against them, but I won't put them on a pedestal just because they are "in the movies", were given money by Daddy or can move a ball around a playing area. YMMV

I've enjoyed some of his movies too just the same as I do Tom Cruise movies. I look forward to seeing the next Top Gun movie come out next year on DVD.

That said, anyone who has seen the stories about Scientologists knows Tom is a wackadoodle. Great actor on the screen, wackadoodle IRL. Which kind of figures for someone who plays dress up for a living. LOL Regardless, I wouldn't want to be in the same room with him any more than Depp nor would I have any sympathy if one of his ex's sued him for being an abusive asshole and his excuse was drugs or alcohol. I'd have even less sympathy if he was suing an ex who discussed their past relationship..even though not mentioning him by name.

The short version is that Amber Heard wrote an Op-Ed about a former relationship with an abusive spouse. Depp was never mentioned by name. Depp is suing heard for defamation claiming the article cost him a movie job.

The evidence indicates that Depp was, indeed, both a substance abuser and an abusive spouse albeit not as horrible as Heard claims.

What's remarkable about it is that it's been politicized with the Pedo Don followers supporting Depp and the LWers largely supporting Heard.

Another factor is that a large number of American women are blaming Heard for being a gold-digging cunt and liar while they completely absolve Depp of all responsibility or fault.
