In Brandenburg v. Ohio (1969), the Supreme Court of the United States held the First Amendment does not protect speech that is “directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action.” Mere advocacy of lawbreaking or violence remains protected speech as long as it is not intended to and likely to provoke immediate unlawful action.

If my local libraries started banning and "restricting" books, as a taxpayer I jolly well would want to know details even if I were not a parent. Living in a theocratic state can produce a generation that is repressive ... example being Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Ban (ning) - to prohibit the use, performance, or distribution of
Are the books being restricted to another level? Yes? Are kids of a certain age now must be prohibited from reading these books? Yes.

And there's not a damn thing stopping those parents from checking these books out and reading them with their kids or letting them read them on their own.
