Was he doing so just prior to the raid? Thibodeau "says" so, but where's the court case that verifies his claim?
The link I provided points to glaring inconsistencies in Thibodeau accounts from his book.....and documents the inconsistencies with reference to other material. Bottom line: Thibodeau was a Branch Davidian but likes to paint himself as just a interested bystander...and if you follow his own accounts, he had plenty of opportunities to leave and blow the whistle on Koresh's dirty doings. He didn't. So it's expected for him to spin a tale that favors his group and paints himself in a better light.
Hey, you want to believe him to confirm your anti-gov't bent, that's your business. I have NO problem acknowledging that the FBI royally screwed up and got those people killed in the final confrontation (and tried to cover up their faults)...and I have NO problem in acknowledging the sick SOB that Koresh was and how his core followers were complicit in the rape of children and the unwillful detainment of members wanting to leave.

Apparently the comment was not entirely "out of the blue", but did lack a greater context. On his radio program the day before, Hannity spoke of the Tea Party movement saying "We've got veterans, we've got stay-at-home moms, people who really don't like the direction of the country. "
"They're speaking out and they've been compared to terrorists, Tim McVeigh-wannabes. They've been called un-American. They've been called every name in the book. "
"Now, the latest attack is that these people are violent..."
From this it is much easier to explain the context. It was most definitely sarcasm. It was also extremely stupid.

It's this very hypocrisy that is jolting people awake and raising their ire and voices. Every day as bits and pieces of what this healthcare reform will actually do to the majority of people who already have health care, and the true story of the bailouts and corruption leak through, people I know who voted for Obama are getting pissed and more incredulous as time goes by.
States across the nation are either bankrupt or teetering on the edge of it. Those home loans where the government told you you could re-work/re-finance you mortgage are taking months upon months while people are being bled until foreclosures or personal bankruptcy are their only option. Many get to the end of the process and are told they don't qualify any more.
The underwriters who work for the banks are employed by the government and they have no pity, no understanding, or care for the people whose lives hang in the balance on the decision they reach. I personally know three hardworking, tax paying families who are in this very crisis and the bill of goods they have been sold is shaming.
The people who are desperately clinging to Obama are even starting to get sick in their tummies because they see the tide turning in a direction that even they in their love-struck state never really wanted. They are saying under their breaths: "Hey wait a minute. This isn't what I voted for."
Obama's machine is a runaway freight train and his people are holding on to the rails like a bunch of frantic, wide-eyed, crazy hobos who only wanted a lift from here to there.
