All things beer thread.

I live near Detroit and I buy Canadian beers. At bars, they serve craft beers. Some are good, and some are flavor experiments gone wrong.

I like beer--perhaps the only thing that I have in common with Justice Kavanaugh--
but unlike he, apparently, I drink it in very modest quantities.

I like Blue Moon in spring and summer; Guinness Extra Stout in autumn and winter.
The ones in the middle, not very light or dark, are my least favorites.

When you order your meal, think of getting a beer to go with it as if you were ordering a wine with your meal. Blue Moon first with the meal, then Guinness with dessert.

Anyone ever drink this?

My first beer ever was a bock style. I also had a German chocolate cake porter that was amazing. I got it in Washington back during our trip. It even had the coconut nuances just like the cake.

You are very lucky to have had a good beer as your first.

My first beer was a warm Schlitz. I almost never tried beer again.

Drinking warm beer seems to be a thing in some European countries but I've never been a fan. Beer just tastes and feels better on the pallet when it is frosty cold. Even cold, some beers aren't very pleasant. I bought a bunch of singles from various breweries one time and one of the IPAs was so bitter and full of aromatics that everyone in the family was disgusted by it.

It's changed from Blue Moon to Guinness season.
It's time for all the Oktoberfest and pumpkin brews. I bought a caramel pumpkin ale and it delivered on both flavors. It just sounded like something I had to try at least once. I'd give it an 8.5 out of ten. It gets high marks for delivering what it says it is and being unique without being fussy.

I hate those tuity fruity snooty hipster beers too. Back on DCJ (DCJunkies forum) I got into a few heated disagreements with some beer snobs over there after I had the temerity to opine that beer is beer. Give an ice cold Budweiser or pretty much any other grocery store beer over that overpriced, fancy shmancy crap any day.

I'll drink anything to try it but I prefer the basics. Don't care for beers that are what I consider too fussy. One newer trend I can get behind is aging beer in various types of liquor barrels. It makes for a smooth product. I've tried beers aged in both tequila and whiskey barrels.
