LOL

For the record, meme, very few disagree that Republicans look pretty stupid when they have to go out & make these big public apologies to Rush, and ingratiate themselves to him.

Can you imagine if the Dems did the same w/, say, Michael Moore?

The GOP looks WEAK:cof1:

The Problem is dems say nothing about Michael Moore

If that were even remotely the case, the democrats wouldn't be going after him the way they are and they wouldn't be using him as the posterboy for the necessity of the fairness doctrine.

as usual, you're throwing a whole lot of bullshit around hoping some of it sticks.

Fairness doctrine.

Awesome. This thread rocks.

Yeah, cause we know being a Democrat is never having to say, your sorry.

Their not just saying sorry to Rush, their saying sorry to all their constituents that they offended, which we know the Democrats never do..

The Democrats with this deal with Rush, LOOKS STUPID. plain and simple

Trust me; real Americans think the GOP, Rush, and his minions all collectively look really stupid.

And yes - I speak for them.

Really? Because this article lays out the evidence that Rahm Emanuel himself is working with others, including James Carville, Paul Begala, and Stanley Greenberg in pushing Limbaugh to the front of the GOP.

Rush Job: Inside Dems' Limbaugh plan

And why the hell shouldn't they? Hell if Rush is gonna give it to them Dems should exploit it politically. This is a better gift than "I was against the war before I was for it!" LOL The gift that keeps on giving. Until some major element in the Republican party has the balls to stand up to Limbaugh, it's gonna be the gift that keeps on giving and considering Rush's general unpopularity with the general public it had better happen soon.

Look. Political parties do what political parties do and that's obtain power. If the Republicans want to return to power the first painful step will be distancing themselves from the right wing talking heads. Do they really have to hit rock bottom to understand this? This is going to be painful to Republicans because Rush represents the views of millions people. Unfortunately those people represent a small minority of the voting public and at this time their views are extremely unpopular with the rest of the general public.

Republicans need to bite the bullet and distance themselves from Rush and Fox News. They need to reformulate their tired old message of less government and more tax cuts or at least frame it in new language and use it to recruit younger Americans. The Republican party has been arrogant and dismissive towards young adults because the don't vote. Well guess what, as the get older and grow up they do vote and right now they are voting Democrat. Repubs need to get out and fight that battle and win their hearts and minds. Right now being a Republican is about as cool as wearing a leisure suit. George W. Bush's administration took the angry white redneck politics to it's illogical extreme and look at the mess that was created that the public is largely blaming Republicans for.

If Republicans don't start reforming their party now the longer and harder their fall will be. The first step will be for a major figure in the Republican party to call Rush to the carpet and tell him to STFU. That he does not speak for the Republican party.

I'm not saying they shouldn't Mott, not by any means. I was just pointing out to Jarod that there is indeed a concerted effort by those in the White House to put the spotlight on Limbaugh, to make him appear to be the voice of the GOP. I don't Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel would be participating without his boss' approval. I myself can't stand the Limbaugh. He's a blowhard and a hypocrite, IMO.

I see nothing wrong with this. That's just how politics works. You're opponents screw up you take advantage of it. Through a couple of odd twists Republicans inadvertently made a very unpopular man the face of their party and the Democrats, naturally enough, are making political hay out of it. If it wasn't so hillareously ironic it would be straight out of a political science primer.

I mean I can't blame Obama from making political capital out of this. Why look a gift horse in the mouth, eh?

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to Republicans distancing themselves from Rush. And you're right, they've essentially set themselves up for the criticism. Sadly, as long as Limbaugh has the following I am led to believe he has, it will be difficult for anyone in the GOP to speak out against him. I blame this on the audience more than I blame it on Rush. He tells them what they want to hear and they lap it up. Though I do not listen to him, I can imagine that, on occasion, he probably says something I would agree with. I chalk that up to the "blind squirrel" analogy. There is no easy answer for the Republicans in this instance.

They have for the last 20 years. Rush hates the Washington "country club" Republicans and they hate him- openly. Its the conservative faction of the GOP that listens to Rush, and there's less than a handful of conservatives in the Senate, and only 60 or so in the House.

Nope, just a lot of hard choices. The days of the reactionary right wing are over. They need a new voice. Not a tired old fat one.

So Rush represents the old core conservatives?
