You'll rid the world of neither war nor religion. If somehow you rid the world of religion, you'd be left with non-religious wars.
The last century was full of them.
At any rate, religion isn't hardwired so much as it's the only way to answer the larger questions in life. In contrast, materialism [or atheism or however you want to label it] merely denies the questions---but the questions don't go away and continue to nag 'us', as it were.
Here's the irony: in places like post-Christian Europe where materialism abounds, you have millions of young people who seek a cure for the empitiness and/or desire some purpose for their existence---then they stumble onto Islam: and it gives meaning to life.
You can see where this is going. I have very little doubt the radicals look at Europe as fertile ground for recruitment *because* they are largely irreligious. In contrast, the Bible Belt here in this country would need to be conquered.
Europe is in dire straights---partly because they are irreligious and mostly because of their immigration policy. Ann Coulter recently quipped that one day Russia will be the only recognizably European country on the planet.
She's not far off.
