White House Pushes New Guidelines

An August 10, 2009 National Endowment for the Arts conference call in which artists were asked to help support President Obama's agenda -- a call that at least one good government group called "inappropriate" -- has prompted the White House to issue new guidelines to prevent such a call from ever happening again.

"The point of the call was to encourage voluntary participation in a national service initiative by the arts community," White House spokesman Bill Burton told ABC News. "To the extent there was any misunderstanding about what the NEA may do to support the national service initiative, we will correct it. We regret any comments on the call that may have been misunderstood or troubled other participants. We are fully committed to the NEA's historic mission, and we will take all steps necessary to ensure that there is no further cause for questions or concerns about that commitment."

In the call, Yosi Sergant, then the NEA's communications director, seemed to encourage the listeners to create art to further the president's goals by promoting the United We Serve campaign and create art specific to areas of health care, education and the environment.

==================

I can see your point IB....

There's nothing more effective than good, old fashioned, propaganda....ala the master of propaganda, Mr. Goebbels.....and the Democrats are certainly having some success with the tactic....must be in the genes....

Well, from what I read, the NEA jumped the Shark in a conference call, and the Obama administration is calling them on it and taking them to task. It wasn't a general public campaign or anything, was it?

My goodness! The President talking to school children and now the Dems wanting to promote awareness of health care, education and the environment by asking artists to participate. What is the world coming to?

OK, the Dems won the election. We shall not speak of this again. A strict "Don't ask, don't tell" policy until the next election. Opaque window coverings on all the White House windows. A complete ban on photos depicting Obama and the White House.

We'll quietly wait out this aberration with as little fanfare as possible.

Yeah, the next thing you know he'll be doing something as heinous as firing all the US Attorneys for not prosecuting Republicans running for re-election. I tell you the Antichrist is here!

The NEA has been getting away with using forced unions dues to be used for political purposes that favor the dems for years. There are several groups who have petitioned congress to have them audited, I think going back as far as 94. Maybe this "red handed" affair will encourage enough outrage when coupled with all the other organized criminality being uncovered.

I remember there was a black dude, some writer, Armstrong was either his first or last name I'm drawing a blank that was paid by the Bush White House to promote NCLB that liberals were all upset about (I thought justifyably). Using your reasoning why would people have been upset at someone promoting education when the Republicans had won the election?

Where is the hypocrisy here?

I'm afraid I'm gonna need a little more detail...

Armstrong Williams, paid $250,000 by the Administration to promote bush policies to Blacks CLANDESTINELY on his radio show. He did so, both sides kept the arrangement a secret, and that was the reason for the criticism.

No kidding! Did you hear his speech at the UN? He was talking about countries working together. Global solutions. Even making the world a more secure/safer place by dealing with the nuclear threat.

What planet is that dude from, anyway?

If just a few more folks had changed their votes we could all be clapping and singing "Bomb, bomb , bomb. Bomb, bomb, Iran."

Oh, well. Come 2012 maybe we'll all be aching for a good blood bath and vote Republican. Polish up the prisons. Shine up the water boards.

Obama's speech was an embarrassment. He sure loves himself, doesn't he?

Yeah, reducing the world nukes is SUCH an embarassment. Instead, let's gurarantee our great grandchildren will live in a climate of potential destruction by following the Shrub's PNAC agenda.

I swear Blabba, sometimes I can't believe how fucking stupid you are after all these years.
